The Labour Government

Increasing benefits from April for households with more than 2 wives! Is there anything else they can do to p..s us off. Lawyer PM and this is happening.

Not quite correct.... the UK does not recognise polygamous marriages . Any 'second' wife would have to claim UC as an individual . This has always been the case.

It only applies to Pension Credit or Housing Benefit I believe and only under a very unusual set of circumstances.

Those bloody 'Mormons' coming over here with their Christianity and multiple spouses............

The legislation has been there since the 1970s. Now ask yourself why it is suddenly in certain RW media. Oh, the level of migration is down so let's turn the spotlight on another marginalised group.
Maybe people are just waking up to the injustices, or maybe they don’t regularly trawl through the DWP info.

Do you think it’s that or is it stoking the culture war’s flames?
I just don’t agree with the law being broken. Nothing to do with culture. May have been ok in the 1970s certainly not now. Actually I know someone who was prosecuted for not divorcing his first wife and then marrying once more, so it looks extremely unjust to me.

It’d be interesting to see how many claimants there are for it. My guess would be minimal.

I worked in the DWP for nearly a decade and never came across it once.

Yes it’s probably time to get rid of it.
Not really sure it really exists anymore.

“Universal Credit does not recognise polygamous households in the benefit system. Any adults living in the household would each have to claim as a single person on the basis of their own circumstances.

Benefits such as Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance and Housing Benefit do recognise a small number of polygamous marriages which took place in a jurisdiction where polygamy is permitted. This number is very small and declining, since the Immigration Act 1988, it has not been possible for people polygamously married overseas to bring second wives to the UK through the spouse visa route.”

Nice to see it's lemming season in the Labour party !

Whatever happened to daytime tv since BBC News/ Sly News took hold.

Still Trumps success over Iran seems to be going well with oil prices rising - Farage and Badenoch got it spot on with their support for the fucking megalomaniac !

Sound judgement from revered politicians.

Thank you that sorts it out.

So basically the SCG plus a couple of rogues who slipped through the 2024 vetting process ... give it up lads it's over.

If members of the Parliamentary labour Party worked as hard as it does to control each other as a means of running the country to the benefit of the ones that need it most it would be in power for decades.

Anyone who wants the leaders job isn't the right person to lead. Their ego will always come first over everything.

Starmer/Streeting/Rayner/Burnham all bought and paid for by various donors. Some politically (The Trilateral Commission) others grift like Farage and will say anything to keep their gifts flowing.

We really need a new system that reflects the country fairly but theses piggies have got large troughs they want to keep their noses in.
