The Labour Party

Well don't worry your little cotton socks about it and vote for someone else.

I don't think you get it, many of us want a Socialist Labour party, not a tory lite party and after Brexit the Labour party will still be there and it will be a Socialist party.

A socialist party that will never be electable as most people are not that fucking stupid.

Is that you saying its ok for Labour to target social media with ads, just not the Tories?

I dont think i will sleep tonight reading this....

In the summer of 2017, a group of young political activists in the United Kingdom figured out how to use the popular dating app Tinder to attract new supporters. They understood how Tinder’s social networking platform worked, how its users tended to use the app, and how its algorithms distributed content, and so they built a bot to automate flirty exchanges with real people. Over time, those flirty conversations would turn to politics—and to the strengths of the U.K.’s Labour Party.

To send its messages, the bot would take over a Tinder profile owned by a Labour-friendly user who’d agreed to the temporary repurposing of his or her account. Eventually, the bot sent somewhere between 30,000 and 40,000 messages, targeting 18- to 25-year-olds in constituencies where the Labour candidates were running in tight races. It’s impossible to know precisely how many votes are won through social media campaigns, but in several targeted districts, the Labour Party did prevail by just a few votes. In celebrating their victory, campaigners took to Twitter to thank their team—with a special nod to the Tinder election bot.

Maybe i will sleep and just accept that social media is used by politicians and parties these days and has been for a long time.

The faux outrage as seen on here needs to stop as it is pathetic.

Common practice now the tories set up several false cold calling companies and targeted groups, would ask general questions first then guide the callers onto tory policy and why is was good.

Both parties use these tactics now, a bit dusturbing yes, but it's the modern state of political campaigning.

I couldn't care less how parties campaign as long as it is honest both your example and mine are devious though so both should be criticised.

Balanced as always from yourself mate.

If its in the wrong then lets call it out and demand our democracy isn't tainted by it but lets be fair and call it all out, even if it has benefited us politically.

Corbyn's statement was nothing particularly ground breaking. Same old stuff - the only surprise is that he didn't ask for a General Election

He only has 2 student pamphlets I’m afraid and he may have dropped the one containing general election and social justice on the floor of a train. If anyone from lost and found at virgin finds it let him know. He was sat on the floor of a empty carriage on the 0905 to Euston.

The search of the Hamas memorial site he never attended proved fruitless so they are pretty sure it was the train.

I’m all for specific laws and an independent body to monitor parties in the run up to elections.

There’s a danger here I feel and I’m not getting into who’s done it worst, they’re all at it and I don’t think they should be.

Agree.

Just ban political ads from social media as its not able to be policed because of the nature of the internet.

Its difficult though when some want to ignore certain incidents whilst wanting others sanctioned.

Its either ok or its not?

But then where do you draw the line with what's political?
