One theory has the monster as a demon conjoured up when Alestair Crowley lived in Boleskine House by the loch side...
All locals from any part of the world where there are myths and legends gain from tourism.Been watching a few nutters on you tube who believe in it.

I was on Loch Ness a few years ago one misty September morning, it was quite eerie though, I’ll say;)
I canoed some of it a few years back. The wind and rain whipped up that much on two of the days, that we must have travelled backwards half a mile over the day, and the next we couldn’t canoe without the risk of being tipped over.

I have fished on the loch and hooked into something very very big which towed the boat nearly a mile before escaping. Never saw what it was. Maybe a pike.

We need myths like this. Most countries have them.
Most likely none of them exist, but that’s why it’s a myth as it can and never will be ruled out. I was fascinated with Nessie as a kid.
Never been to Ness, but been to Lochs Lomond and Lubnaig, the latter is utterly beautiful.
As for the person who compared it to Roswell, one is real and the other is a myth. ;-).
