The Lower Turks Head, Shudehill to Re-Open

Not the Lower Turks Head, but just saw a tweet that the owners of the Castle Hotel are taking over the Gulliver's Pub across from them, with a look at a sort of grand reopening for early September. Good news by me, the Castle is probably my favourite pub in Manchester for a drink and the juke box is second to none.

Gullivers is a weird pub, always enjoyed it when ive been in though. A strange mix of trendy northern quarter types, nutters and old pissheads

Yeah, I know I've been before, just can't place it. Figure it should do pretty well if the Castle is anything to go by.

It's that Rupert somebody who played one of the annoying cockernee Baldwin brats in Corrie....

Thing that suprises me with The Castle, jukebox and a few more real ales aside, it's the same inside as it has been for decades.....and yet the beardy flat cap wearing trendies that flock there now, wouldn't have been seen dead there ten years ago, lol

Didn't seem that bad last time i went in, just full of blokes really and not one flat cap in sight. I did get chatted up by a gay guy with no legs though, he was just half a body in a wheel chair.

Just to confirm - Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond control The Lower Turks Head and Scuttlers Bar won't open to the public until Friday (23rd August).

Gutted as its a great location for a pre-match drink with the tram stop just outside which goes straight to the ground and would have been a great start to the season.

The place looks fantastic but a couple of issues require ironing out before trading can commence.

was in the hairy next to it last night and peeked through the windows and the place looked nice, though it looked like there was still a lot to do, is it still on to open tomorrow?

There's a thread on here somewhere I started other week, bloody shame in my opinion Gully's always opened it's doors to you not matter where the castle even though a great pub can be a little more aloof when they want and seem less than welcoming, having 2 good but different boozers opposite meant better choice on a night down Oldham st and Shuedhill as for flatcaps not just NQ hipster wear them t I'll have know, but you're right about them not setting foot in castle 10yrs ago, was in the Wheatsheaf about 4 months ago and a few of these types walked in, looked at the decor and locals and fucked off straight back out wankers

Opening tonight. Cannot get on twitter because im on works comp, but go on @LowerTurks for interior photos. Seems a bit too nice inside for where it is!

Pictures look good. In town tomorrow night so will call in.

I follow The Lower Turks head on twitter, cant remember all the beers but they were a bit UNinspireing.. Will call in though andit checkout for myself..

Where is everyone drinking this season? We used The Waldorf and The Crown & Anchor before Newcastle.

The Angel....simply great beers.

Where's that?
I think it's near the Marble Arch. Top Chinese in The Waldorf for a fiver - I'll be having another no doubt.

I don't know where the Marble Arch is either! You'll have to forgive me but I left Manchester in 2005 and virtually feel like a tourist (U****d fan) when I come back now.

Chinese or Thai food in a Pub is good business these days. Great idea.

The Angel. The building on the right. They are both on the left hand side of Rochdale Road from Shudehill as you leave town.

Peoffrey.....Up, Shudehill past bus station on left, goet to lights...straight across and fifty yards on the left, slightly set back...

Enjoy.
