The Maginot Line

The Americans weren't our allies in 1939 either. They happily stood by and watched our island home take a beating day and night for years, avariciously weighing up how much cold hard cash they could make out of the situation. They were convinced we would lose.

The soviets sacrificed tens of millions of lives fighting our enemy for us. Literally saving our country.

Thank god for uncle Joe. Without him we wouldn't have a country today.

Russia did nothing at all to help save our country when we were in danger of attack. Quite the opposite, they were assisting our attackers.

Before they entered the war the Americans sent us important weapons and vital raw materials.

Before they were attacked the Russians were sending the Nazis thousands of tons of vital raw materials. The trainloads of raw materials were still arriving in the hours leading up to the attack on Russia on 22 June 1941.

Politics were behind some "shameful" acts. Repatrating thousands of "white" russians who fought for the allies, to certain death is one. The russians halting their advance on Warsaw until the uprising was quelled, despite their promise not to, was another. The reports from the American sub warning of the japanese fleet heading for Pearl Harbour being ignored, and so guaranteed American involvement in the war..
America had a large proportion of German immigrants, enough to swing an election.
Military decisions, like the attack on Pearl Harbour, tops the lot, imo.
An unwinnable arguement that has rumbled on for years, and no doubt will carry on for many more...

Just remind us of how many millions your uncle starved to death ?

Actually it was the supreme sacrifices and outstanding bravery of the Soviet armed forces and people who saved all of our arses.

One of this country's most cowardly and shameful acts in its entire history that immediately after the war we turned away from our soviet allies and instead cosied upto the yanks. The yanks who swanned over here after we had already fought the Germans to a draw in Western Europe and proceeded to bleed us dry for the next 60 years.

This country should have soviet bases all over it instead of American ones.

Disgraceful and shameful.
"Uncle Joe" stabbed Poland in the back and invaded along with Germany, murdered thousands of Polish officers in cold blood, along with hundreds of thousands of his own countrymen, where as the USA supplied us with raw materials and weapons and more over 100 octane petrol for our aircraft "abet at a cost of course". That said if they hadn't and we would have fallen then the USA would have been in deep shit and fortunately for us and them Roosevelt knew it.
