The Masters Golf

Quite like listening to Faldo, some good insights along the way.

He's extremely knowledgeable and almost shows his brain set him apart from the rest.

Don't know whether you caught it when Justin Rose was doing some practice swings aiming for a draw and Faldo said I don't know why he's doing it like that he's almost guaranteeing a fade. Low and behold he faded it.

Last year I think it was at the US Open and Radar Riley was on course describing the lie of a player and what the ball would do, then Nick came on comms and said the grass in front of the ball would put alternative spin on it and said it would do something completely different. Again Faldo was right.

I like both Rory snd Bryson, but would love to see Rory get the grand slam. Only needs a fuck up from Bryson and Rory will take it.

Had a few quid E/W on McCarty (McCarty being my descendants name from Ireland) but he unfortunately messed up at the end of his round.
Was going nice and steady throughout for his debut appearance at the Masters until he found the drink

A number of years ago, a mate who’s big into golf, went to the Open at Hoylake
Faldo hit his ball into the rough very close to where my friend was stood, so it gave him the opportunity to watch Faldo perform from a pole position
He took in Faldo’s stance and how, when hit hit the ball, he flicked his wrists and the ball flew and sat perfectly on the green
Not long after, my friend is on a corporate doo at Hoylake and by a quirk of fate, he’s hit his ball into the rough very close to where he’d watched Faldo
He knew exactly what to do and put into action everything he’d seen Faldo do, including flicking his wrists as his club came into contact with the ball
The ball travelled about two feet

Yes,he has a way of cutting through the crap and is easily understood. He is different from the rest of the commentators even trying to explain why shots are hard, topography, lies and player actions.
As you say a very knowledgeable guy.

I see Rose has now led the Masters after the first round on five occasions. Unfortunately, he just gets worse after that.

What time does Rory tee off? I need to tell her in doors her time with the telly will come to an end

I once got an actual round of applause from the public for one of my golf shots.
We were playing Nefyn in Wales. Anyone who has played it will know it's brutal proper links golf, a lot of the time anything off the fairway is in the sea, 200 foot drops, the lot. There is also a public footpath that snakes it's way around the course, and as its such a stunning place, the footpath is quite busy with walkers.
Anyway, we all tee off, (can't remember the hole number) and while I'm furthest, and hence last to play my second, I'm also well off the fairway, on the path, but still in play.
So I'm stood by my ball for a good 10 minutes waiting for my 3 mates to all play there second shots. In the meantime the locals, who know the score and realise what's going on, all decide to wait on the path for me to play. Despite my attempts to move them on, they all insisted on politely waiting lol. By the time I'm up, there's over a dozen walkers, dogs, etc on the path.
I'm about 200 yards to an elevated green, you could just about see the bottom of the stick.
I just decide to swipe at it with a 3 iron and get it over with, no practice swing, nothing. I just wanted to get away from the crowd, who were all watching me intently. They even went quiet as I addressed the ball, like on telly lol. I was bricking it.
I hit the best shot I've ever played, took one bounce and finished 6 inches from the cup. Tap in birdie.
The 'crowd' erupts and gives me a round of applause ha ha, with my mates all looking on shaking there heads, for they know I'm a hacker of the finest order. I even duffed my cap at them lol.
Great memories.
