The medias take on the Owen transfer

I'm still laughing about SSN yesterday....Owen to the rags...."the biggest transfer in the window yet."

Kaka to Madrid.
Tranny to Madrid.
Benzema to Madrid.
Barry to us.
RSC to us.

But a free transfer crock being pursued by Hull and Stoke then going to the rags is somehow "bigger."

Laughable.

To the OP great post my thoughts entirely.

Yep RB. Biggest transfer is a forward who has been injured for nearly 4 fucking seasons on a free with the likes of Hull and Stoke in the mix. SSN are cock suckers of the highest order and it was still breaking news when I switched on 10 hours later.

Just think as recently as 12 months ago signing a crocked owen, and an ex wigan winger for city would have had us drooling. We would have been pissed off with scum buying barry, RSC, Tevez? and trying for eto.
HOW TIMES ARE CHANGIN'

SSN, & Talksport don't represent the entire media. There has been criticism. Depends where you look.

I listened to Peter Spencer this morning being interviewed on Radio 5, and he raised some critical points. My newspaper was also critical

Peter Spencer being critical ????? I dont believe it !!! The way he has been slagging City on radio recently you have to wonder if he is trying to engineer the sack

Ive only had Talksport on this morning and they think its a great deal.

some tool on facebook has owen has his picture and someone has just commented:

thats a sight id never seee , come on owen get fit you c*** , nah on a more serious note great bit of bisness , any other club would have him 4 free

No they wouldn't, no other club except Hull and Stoke would have him even on a free.

I think it's pretty obvious why ssn will lead on united, liverpool, chelsea over other clubs - it's because the majority of their viewers support those clubs. I agree that they talk utter shit but it's only utter shit because it's biased towards those clubs. If you know most of your audience (gloryhunting armchair fans if you prefer) are supporters of those clubs then they are going to put a positive slant on the stories to do with those clubs.
But I don't really give a shit to be honest - it's 2009 and the vast amount of media sources means you can get your information from an almost limitless amount of places. I do find it surprising why we're getting so worked up about criticism - take the higher ground because if your team is doing well on the pitch/signing the best players then you don't even need to gloat - your team does it for you!!!

i read soccernet and am very disappointed that some non-united fans are wishing him well. to be honest i deeply want him to fail and bring the club down with him. or the club fails him. either way, as long as the conclusion is the bankruptcy of them all and the permanent extinction of their sorry presence.
