The "mercenary" & "there for the money" tag...

I remember thinking watching the way the players celebrated the goals in the sick swan, "I challenge anyone to tell me they ar only here for the money!"

Cleveland ARE small-time though...

Back on-topic, anyone who says our players are mercenary or here for money alone is either a deluded rag, or hasn't watched even one of our matches. The point is, their opinion holds no relevance. Fuck 'em.

We know, the Sheik knows, Mancini knows, the players know, (Tevez doesn't), that we are on to something special at the moment, don't allow idiotic hacks to ruin what we've waited a lifetime for.

The only one who came for the money was Tevez.......and he is now/nearly a problem solved.

Yes the money at City is good.......but the prospects are even better!

We did pay people and clubs over the odds, it was sound investment, they got us to where we needed to be to attract the very top players, now we pay those players very well indeed but it's actually cos they are bloody good players, if any club could afford them they'd pay it too.
Had we not broke the bank in earlier years this lot would not have come as we would not be challenging for honours, they want to win things. It blows the mercenary theory right out of the window .

i can only think of nick barmby who has taken a massive reduction in wages to sign for the club he loves.

Surely the most loyal is Mat Le Tissier, who stayed with Southampton despite all the offers from other clubs, cant have been on a huge wage compared to what he could have got.

What about Joseba Etxeberria? He played his final year for free at Athletic Bilbao as a thank you to his club.
