The "Mexican Messi"

Gai Assulin was what, mk5?
more like mk3, him and Dos Santos were labeled next Messi's; but Gai was a blast from the past, never seen him play, he was hyped everywhere and dude just fell of the earth. looking by how much and where he played, he had an unsuccessful career

I've read every post here and still have no idea who this is, is he coming over here for the U21's or a CFG signing? NYFC perhaps?

Saw this and desperately trying to remember the name of the African lad who was going to be the next big thing in 80s/90s who spent a very short time at Villa. Might be my memory but am sure he was on the pitch playing keepy uppy when they played us - dazzling ball skills but vanished into the football wilderness and moved from club to club.

Nii Lamptey?

Nii Lamptey?
Thats the guy. Career turned into a non event after being bigged up as the next Pele. Only vague memories of him looking impressive doing tricks on the pitch either before the game or half time but don't think he ever played.

His twitter heading claims 'Manchester City, EDS' which gives us a clue to City's plans for him. On his instagram is a set of pics from 2 Octobers ago when the club hosted him at the Etihad for a derby match [6-3].
