Ha I’ve seen her a couple of times too.

There’s a definite creepy old perv contingent to her fanbase. I think she plays up to it to be fair.

Ha tales of 'over-invested' male fans always bring a smile to my face. Donkey’s year ago, a bunch of us went to a Heather Nova gig at a relatively small club. It was noticeable that there were quite a few very committed men in the audience. In our group was a woman I didn’t know, friend of a friend, who had been getting progressively more leathered throughout the evening.
Part way through the set the singer made some fairly lame joke which was nonetheless greeted with hearty laughs from her adoring fans, but as the laughter died down this clearly very pissed voice suddenly pipes up, to no none in particular, something to the effect of “oooh look at me with my golden locks and tanned body and quivering voice prancing round the stage making all the saddo boys salivate”.
At which point dozens of over invested blokes (some of whom were quite big lads) swivelled round towards our group with murderous intent in their eyes, meanwhile said pissed woman just smiles back at them with a “who me? What did I say?” expression.
Genuinely thought we were going to get lynched, we swiftly removed her and ourselves from the main crowd for everyone’s benefit. Shame really as it was a good gig and to be fair Heather Nova was a good looking woman.
