no idea what that means and they're still overrated
It's someone trying to look cool about music, and just questioning your taste as it doesn't match theirs (added to the fact that The Doors are a cool band to like). Never understand comments like 'band you must like before you die' - music is very much about tastes/opinions and that kind of comment is crass. Now, if he said 'band you must listen to before you die' then fair one. I personally am not a great fan of The Doors, and I have listened to them. I personally love the Velvet Underground, but I'm sure there are people on here who think they're utter shite, and although I don't understand it, I respect their opinions.

My favourite post on here up to now was the 'Autobahn' post - never seen that video before.
To be honest, I wasn't trying to look "cool". The picture just shows that I'm puzzled by his opinion because I think The Doors are a great band.

"Must like" and "must listen to" got mixed up in my post and that's that.

And on to the next one... As it happens, the Velvet Uderground aren't too bad actually.

any chance of an explanation with these pictures for those of us that arent 85 years old.

Dear me. If you don’t know maybe you’re in the wrong thread? Looks like you've got a bit of learning to do. Anyway…

The young Elvis: already a recording artist, here he stands unknown to everyone but the photographer in a small crowd of people in a railway station.

The Beatles arrive in American for the first time.

The 1965 Newport Folk Festival when Dylan went electric for the first time.

(Between them, these three acts changed everything.)

Pete Towshend smashes a guitar.

Janis Joplin nurses a bottle of Southern Comfort.

The Stones in Hyde Park in 1969, a couple of days after the death of Brian Jones; Mick Jagger wears a pink dress.

Jimi Hendrix’s set closes down the overrunning Woodstock Festival on the Monday morning, after most people had gone home.

Montreux Casino was set on fire halfway through Frank Zappa’s set, thus inspiring Deep Purple’s Smoke On The Water.

Led Zeppelin’s biggest concert at the time; stadium concerts were still in their infancy. They rewrote the book on them.

Pink Floyd’s pig over Battersea Power Station: the most famous pig in rock history.

The man who started it had died.

The man who said “Before Elvis there was nothing died” dies himself and with that, the dream that The Beatles would re-form really was over.

Pink Floyd In The Flesh Tour of 1977 promoting the album Animals, concluded with the now infamous spitting incident by Roger waters into a fans face, at Montreal 6-7-1977.

"Hey! come back pig..come back all is forgiven, come on boy, come on son just another 100 yards, come here when you are told, there's a good boy, come on son............

Result of this one gig was Roger Waters wanted to build a "Wall" between the band and the audience!

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBrHjwsEQaQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBrHjwsEQaQ</a> listen from 6.22 onwards.

Looking at this thread I get the impression that some posters have misread the title as "my favourite songs" while some of it isn't even rock! Never mind. Here's a dozen real deals...
