The Myth: Say it enough times...

There's a thread on there complaining at city increasing ST prices by 9%. I know it's not great but it's still over 100 quid cheaper than theirs.

BAHAHAHAHA Calling us glory seekers?..Never thought I'd see the day.

They're beyond belief at times. I wonder how many of the hundreds of thousands that turned up at their treble winning parade in 1999 are plastic cunts that have never set foot inside Old Trafford? I reckon it's a significant percentage. In fact, that parade was the day after they won the Champions League in Barcelona and I know some reds who were at that game that didn't go to the parade as they were utterly bolloxed from the night before. So if anything, it was the plastics that beefed up the numbers rather than the regular match-goers.

Honestly, if, God forbid, any other club suffered a plane crash, the rags would be fuming that an other club had 'outdone' them on the tragedy front.
You're bang out of order TMQ. The biggest aeroplane-related disaster known to man was 9/11 and the rags never tried to latch themselves onto that.

;-)

I think it's awfully nice of them to show such concern that my season ticket for next year costs over £350 less than my United supporting boss is forking out for his.

The default setting for some Rags when talking about parades seems to be to post the same pic of a packed Deansgate taken 13 years ago when they won the treble (yes, as someone who had the misfortune to be passing through town that day I can confirm it was a big turnout but they are the biggest supported club in the country and the world and they had just achieved something that no other English team had ever done so it's hardly anything to write home about), but to blatantly ignore their utterly shit turnout for a far more recent - and therefore relevant - parade last year. And unlike them lying twats bagging on our parade last week, we have overwhelming photographic and video evidence to back up our claims that hardly any **** turned up at theirs last year.

With regards the packed picture of United in 1999.

You might want to mention Deansgate would look like this on any occasion where the police had decided not to put a perimeter or barricades either side of the bus.

Health and safety these days don't want people under a bus!

Looks exactly the same for the Bupa run when there are 25,000 people at the start and finishing lines.

Put the estimated 100,000 blues who were on the streets last week on Deansgate and would look like a million people.

Just like when they said a million marched against Iraq or a million stand outside Buckingham Palace.

Bullshit, sounds good though.

GMP puts Deansgate capacity at 80,000.

That's a very good point that deserves consideration and it certainly makes the numbers look even bigger than they actually were. Some of the Rag Cafe mouthbreathers like to believe the figure of "nearly a million" from one newspaper but I think the GMP had it down as nearer 200,000. Anyone with a semblance of a brain would be inclined to lean towards the police rather than the press on these matters.

Unlike some of our red friends talking about our parades last year and this year, I've no problem in admitting it was very busy in town that day. I was making my way home from work and had to get off a bus on Mosley Street then catch a connecting bus just round the corner in Piccadilly Gardens. It was swarming with the fuckers. Luckily I didn't have to wait long for my bus but there was one amusing incident when one of them asked a bus driver for directions to The Swamp. That one question sums up 99% of their support base perfectly.

Any lurking Rags that were quick to dumb down the figures for our FA Cup parade last year while laughably bigging up the numbers at theirs the following week ought to read this from a United fan who posted this on the parade thread in the Classics section:

Just to start off with I'm a United fan.

As the youth cup final was on the same day as city's parade I managed to see what Manchester was like for that. It was absolutely jam packed, I could barely walk, the trams were full, the tram stations were full.

I did go to our "parade" which was an embarrasment, I could barely believe it when the news said there was 100,000+ fans or whatever. That was obviously was a lot of bollocks.

I just love how they refer to the 1999 one as their 'last' parade. They have no idea about last year's because not a single person turned up. Idiots.

Nowt wrong with that logic. I used a similar method in the early 80's when the shit got beat by Bournemouth and we got beat bt Blackpool, both in t'cup. We had a pitch invasion which delayed the game so by that unselfish act we stayed in the cup longer;-)
