The 'new' Anfield

Maine Road will always be our spiritual home - at least until all those of us who went there are around. I love old grounds I love the nostalgia BUT.......... fact is brand new facilities on brand new site give a club an opportunity to grow and expand and makes a statement of intent.

Any older Bluemooners who went to say the Victoria Ground, Ayersome Park or Roker Park will probably have fond memories of old traditional grounds but like us I am sure those clubs prefer the Britannia, the Riverside and the Stadium of Light.

What the dippers plans are a cut priced answer to a problem that is designed to play on nostalgia to get round the fact that like one poster put they end up with what looks like a tatty St James Park

Have the Liverpool Council Authorities played a (financial) role in the new stadium ? May be compulsory purchase orders of some form ?

The EU rules on state aid, under the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU and a set of accompanying EU regulations and guidelines, are aimed at preventing public bodies from giving financial help to private organisations in a way that distorts competition in the market. The EU's competition regulator has been stepping up its attempts to promote sustainable finance in the game by examining real estate deals between major football clubs and public authorities.

Just wondering.

Just like their owner asking who came second to Etihad in the bidding for the stadium sponsorship deal, then supplying HIS club with HIS sportswear company's kits?
