Re: EDS on CityTV?

Getting updates via Twitter.

City winning 1-0 over Liverpool, the trialist D'Angelo scored after a one-two with Denis Suarez. The other trialist, Eugenio Isnaldo, nearly scored a 25 yard screamer too.

D'Angelo, 22 year old attacking midfielder on trial from Chacarita Juniors in Argentina.
Isnaldo, 17 year old midfielder on trial from Newell's Old Boys in Argentina.

Not a very good game and I am not sure we were the better side either but always nice to win. We didn't really have much of a goal threat and I think a 20 yarder was going to be the only way we would score.Although Suarez did get the ball onto a post in the last minute.

Liverpool threatened quite a bit but some how managed to mess up on the last pass or shot even though they had the City defence stretched quite often.

I thought Razak was good ( quieter in the 2nd half) and Veseli showed up well even though he was carrying an injury from early in the 2nd half.

Thanks. How about the trialists?

Looking at the lineup, who played up front? From what I've read Scapuzzi is more of an attacking midfielder and can't see who else might have played up front. Both of the trialists (Ignaldo and D'Angelo) are allegedly midfielders too. Bunn injured, Nimely injured, Guidetti with the first team so seems we were lacking options.

Edit: Just noticed Devante came on at half-time, that would have sorted any problems!

Re: EDS on CityTV?

MoM without doubt Karim Rekik, even took the armband at such a young age. In difficult conditions he was outstanding, always found a blue shirt, reads the game well, good in the air.
Godd second half showing from Suarez, and I thought Devante Cole looked lively.

Re: EDS on CityTV?

a 22yr old on trial? if he was much kop surely most teams would of heard about him by that age? but then what do i know!

Cole was also substituted late in the 2nd half!!

Scapuzzi played up front and for me was the best of the "trialists"

Bunn and Nimley are back in training so shouldnt be far off ( Bunn arrived at Hyde near the end of the game)

I agree Rekik looked good and if he is only 16 I would be staggered. 18 minimum for me.I still think he is a bit risky on the ball but definitely a prospect.

Suarez did show a good touch or two but gave the ball away too often and I didn't think worked hard enough.

Pretty good show tbh. Caught the catering staff off guard. He told me they expected about 30 turning up.

Half time made me chuckle, they tried to interview some kids and ask them who was their favourate city play.......both were rags. Big Fail to the M.C

Hard to assess on one viewing ,especially against a team like Liverpool who were quite strong and well organised, but my gut reaction is we won't keep them.

Re: EDS on CityTV?

Re-name this thread 'The Official EDS & Academy 11/12 thread' and get abit of movement going for our young lads, with it being updated dailly.

The apathy of youth football on bluemoon is down to the club, why should this forum have any news on them when the OS doesn't have any at all, the only club in the top two divisions not to by the way.

Re: The official EDS thread 2011/12

Good job on the rename, I would like to see this stickied if possible but that is up to the mods.

Still no responce from the club from the email I sent 5 days ago pleading for better coverage including proper profiles but hopefully they read it at least.

If I had one hope for City in the next couple of years, besides winning the league of course, it would be for at least a couple of EDS/homegrown lads to break through to regular first team consideration. Weiss must be very close to being considered now but I'm guessing another loan then a final judgment on him in a year's time. Guidetti is now our #5/#4 in waiting (when Tevez leaves) striker too and seems to be with the first team squad now.

Of the others, I would think one or two of Assulin/Suarez/Roman would have the best chance due to our lack of cover for Silva. Even when Nasri signs he is a different sort of player to Silva.
