The official EDS and academy thread 2011/12

the only game any of them wouldn't get a minute in would be FA Cup 3rd round, and that's only if we don't get drawn against a top Premiership team.

Based on tonight's viewing i don't think any of them barring Hiwula deserve a chance with the first team.

Although he is a good prospect he is a million miles from being ready for any kind of appearance for the 1st team.

I know that, he is only 17. What i meant to say was based on tonight's viewing he is the only once with a chance that showed any kind of ability tonight.

Fair enough but you know it's crazy to form an opinion on one game. Rekik is a massive prospect but I have yet to see him have a great game. The power and basic talent is there though.

The lad that has impressed me most of late has been Rusnak.Having watched him now for 2 years or more he has definitely come on a lot and is developing really well.Still not sure how far he can go but if he can keep progressing you never know.

It may well be the same for Hiwula.Bags of talent but still lightweight. Add 2 years to that with the extra strength, power and all round experience and he maybe special. Sure as hell hope so.

Mancini is there mostly to translate for Scapuzzi who is "well above this level" according to one Oldham fan report I read. Mancini couldn't even get off the bench for their FA Cup game against Burton and is usually an unused sub, sometimes not even on the bench. As some have suspected he may not even good enough for League One. He is probably a non-league level player but benefiting from an obvious connection.

But Mancini is not the only one suffering on loan. Nimely can hardly get a game for Middlesborough (though they are a higher level than Oldham), Wabara occasionally gets off the bench for Ipswich... disappointing as Wabara especially we'd have hoped would be getting regular football on loan as one of our most prized young defenders.

Chantler's not had a game yet at Carlisle (don't think Helan got much game time there either). Our loan system for young players doesn't seem to be working too well. They go, quite often disappear and then come back with no great experience and just get let go. Not good for the player or for the club, IMO. Of course, it could be because they are bobbins.

Noticed that Wabara came on for the last 5 mins for Ipswich a couple of weeks ago and they conceded 2 goals in that time to lose the game. No idea if it was in any way down to him, but it didn't look too good.
