I am curious from those of you that might get to see some of the matches involving these kids if there are any that stand out in making the top squad and if so, how far out does one think that some of these kids might be seen up there?
Karim Rekik......one of the best prospects I have seen since the Lake, Hinchcliffe, Redmond etc era.

Some good goals scored in the 6-0 win vs Huddersfield

Lost 3-2 v Newcastle. Cole and Kennedy the scorers.

City’s Under 18s suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 3-2 to a strong Newcastle United side at Platt Lane.

It was the visitors who started brightly with a succession of early corners. However, just six minutes into the game City took the lead.

A free-kick from Alex Henshall was played down the right to Adam Drury. His ball into the box was met by Devante Cole whose towering header flew past Newcastle’s goalkeeper Alex Baird.

The in-form Cole nearly made it two just moments later, but his shot from a tight angle trickled past the left post. Both sides were on the offence, making the game an open, lively and physical encounter.

Despite the early set-back, the Magpies grew into the game and eventually forced an equaliser. A corner from Dennis Knight was headed home by Newcastle’s Alex Nicholson. The visitors had thrown the gauntlet down and it was game on for both sides.

The Blues threatened again just before the break when Luke Coulson broke down the right. His ball to Drury was passed to Henshall, who fired his shot over from the edge of the box. It was encouraging and clever play from City against a strong and resilient Newcastle side.

With blustery conditions throughout, the Blues continued to strive for a second goal after the break. The exciting 17 year-old Albert Rusnak created a string of chances, but Magpies keeper Baird was on hand to deny the Slokanian. Rusnak’s clever and inventive play was worthy of a goal, but it was Newcastle who took the lead, with midfielder Knight drilling home from the edge of the box.

With 70 minutes gone, City defender Greg Leigh’s effort was cleared off the line by Michael Hoganson, but the Blues clinched an equaliser seconds later when a goal-mouth scramble resulted in captain Kieran Kennedy slotting into the net, but that wasn't the end of the scoring.

Newcastle refused to accept a point was enough and grabbed a last-gasp winner in extra time when Jonathan Hooper broke clear of the City defence and fired his shot comprehensively past Blues keeper Tom Halsall.

Halsall, Coulson, Kennedy (c), Plummer, Leigh, Clowes (Evans 73), Drury, Huws, Cole (Hiwula 45), Rusnak, Henshall (King)

Unused subs:
O'Brien, Hutton

Does anyone know where you can buy the Barca tickets online?

^ Two 15-year-olds (Angus Gunn and Ashley Smith-Brown) in an U18 squad, crazy. We really are producing some of the best young talent in the country at that level, I hope some of them can go far but better to be cautious nowadays after seeing how badly the FA Youth Cup '08 winning side has fared in general.

u18 beat crewe 3-1 today, look very good this batch of youngsters and we play united next saturday

Decent end to end game today which we deserved to win. I liked the look of Greg Leigh at center half.First time I have seen him but good in defence and scored the opener. Not sure of his age but at least a year below 18's I would think .

Clever 2nd goal by Jordi Hiwula who also looked good.Although the 3rd goal was a late pen we could have had one or two more. The game v scum will be a real tester.

Who is this mysterious American, Thomas Williams, who has been added by someone to our EDS squad on Wiki? Is he a genuine signing or someone jumping the gun? I don't think we've had an American youth player before?

Would imagine someone is jumping the gun or adding themselves as according to that page, Razak and Scapuzzi are academy graduates?!?!

Manchester City starlet Reece Wabara is set for a loan move to the Championship, skysports.com understands.

Wabara is a product of City's acclaimed academy and he has already trained with the first team under Roberto Mancini.

The teenager, who can play in midfield and defence, is now being primed for a spell in the Championship.

A host of clubs are known to be interested in the England youth international, with Ipswich, Reading, Millwall and Blackpool all linked.

Wabara warmed up for the new season by playing for England's Under-20 squad at the World Cup in Colombia.

Quite surprised at this after Charlton, in League One, rejected a loan move for him in the summer due to his attitude.

Jeremy Helan has joined Carlisle on a month's loan. Helan is one of those in limbo as we aren't in the reserve league and he (apparently since he hasn't even been on the bench in them) wasn't picked as one of the three born in 1992 allowed to play in the NextGen tournament.

There are still a fair few players who currently have nothing to do - not in first team plans, too old for the NextGen, and with no other matches they just seem to be training - Assulin, Scapuzzi, Chantler, Veseli, Mancini, Tse. What is the club going to do with these lads? The Championship and below loan window ends on November 25th so there is still time to get some out on loan.

BTW the OS has posted EDS profiles by popular demand. I can't see a link to it on the front page but its there.

Those lads i assume are in the age bracket of the new set up where they will be on loan. Assulin i haven't a clue with him, Scapuzzi the same, Mancini is just a filler, as for the rest, maybe they are injured or clubs have not come in for them for loans.

I would say Assulin needs to somewhere to be tested,Chantler deserves to have a go somewhere and he wouldnt let anyone down,Scapuzzi I think can hang around ,Tse maybe the same as he hasnt long since had a bad injury I think, Veseli surely is in the NextGen age bracket and as for Mancini I think Alty 4th team are on the look out for a player.

Hi - I know this is an obvious question - but can someone confirm that we play the nextgen marches at Hyde.

I am taking my dad on Monday and surprisingly the venue does not seem to be on the tickets

One of those things that you are sure you know - but just need to check
