Nice to see one of these lower league loan moves going well, since most of them seem to end in disappointment.

ie. Alex Henshall, who scored in his last appearance for Bristol Rovers but their manager has come out and said he isn't good enough so he's being sent back.
Seems weird, i thought he had impressed them. oh well.

The failure rate of youth players is so high... I think there will be some tears shed when some really big prospects in our academy fail to impress at senior level.

That's why I find Rekik impressive, still only 18 and has done very well in loans at Portsmouth and PSV. The Blackburn loan didn't go well but they were a mess and playing him in the wrong position.

yeah but many dissappear into the lower leagues for a few years before making their way back up, we've had kids from the old setup that have made or are making a decent career for themselves, so the lads we have now should really be making their names across the world in years to come. Going through the list Dunfield (MLS), Shuker(Port Vale), Etuhu(Blackburn), Mears(Bolton), Barton, SWP & Onuoha(QPR), Jordan(Fleetwood), Whelan(Stoke), Ireland(Villa), Miller(Nottm Forest), Sturridge(Liverpool), Schmeichel(Leicester), Logan(Brentford), K Etuhu(Barnsley), Weiss(Olympiacos), Cunningham(Bristol C), Vidal(Rochdale), Mee & Trippier(Burnley), Chantler(Carlisle), Razak(Anji), McGivern(Hibs), Suarez(Barca B), Helan(Sheff Wed).

Shows that our academy is good for making careers for our graduates, so I have high hopes for the majority of our young lads that they'll have a good career.

Yeah, we are good 'career makers', but wouldn't most PL sides be? I don't have the details of where every player from each academy ends up, but I would've thought many cast-offs from teams like Villa and Everton end up earning a good wage somewhere.

I recently did an article on the FA Youth Cup winning team and this is where the 17 who played over the two games are now:

English Premier League: 4 (Boyata, Ibrahim, Nimely, Sturridge)
English Championship: 3 (Mee, McDermott, Trippier)
English League Two: 3 (Ball, Poole, Tutte)
English Conference Premier: 1 (Kay)
Scottish Premier League: 1 (McGivern)
German Bundesliga: 1 (Mak)
Greek Superleague: 1 (Weiss)
Cypriot First Division: 1 (Tsiaklis)
USA National Premier Soccer League: 1 (Hartley)
Unknown/Unemployed: 1 (Mentel)

yeah, but my point was that was when we were penniless, now I think these guys over time even if they have to start in League 1 or 2 when leaving us will move back up to the Prem over time.

Not sure where that puts Henshall though, doesn't seem to have progressed despite some very special moments.

Yeah thats true. Never really thought of Henshall as one of our big prospects though.

We're no different than any other top premier league club, we are at the top of the food chain so if players aren't making careers when they have been with us for a while then serious questions would have to be asked.

we are now, before that we were flittering mid-table and our prospects have done better than we've been given credit for.
