The old Maine Road Souvie.

Found these photos, on the Manchester Local Image Collection, from the late 60's.

I think this was the original Souvenir Shop, next to Stan Gibson's house, with the Ticket Office, which was later the Souvenir Shop, next to the Social Club.

Yep, it looked one of those actresses who'd had too much plastic surgery at the end. Four totally unrelated stands surrounding one pitch. Criminal architecture.

Is the OP talking about this picture (the megastore) or the old portacabin type shop that Eddie ''copyright to the club badge'' Phillips ran?\
To me, the building in the picture will forever be the social club!

-- Sat Apr 27, 2013 6:45 pm --

I spoke to Paul Moulden for the forthcoming book ''Teenage Kicks'' and he said he never was shagging Machin's daughter and has always been bemused by the rumours that saying that he was!

Those are brilliant photos , i've gone all nostalgic !

I stopped the car near the old souvenir shop the other week , and spent the next 20 minutes staring at that fuckin' horrible housing estate they've built on the site of the old ground , and thinking back to what once stood there .... so many memories ..... it's hard to believe now that something the size of a football stadium was ever there.

Every time I drive passed Maine road on my way to Fallowfield with my missus she always buts in and says "I know Noel its a travesty what they have done "etc right before I burst into a rant about it
But if we were still at Maine Road we would be at best in Evertons position or at worst Sheffield Wednesdays

Great video.

It looked like Brightwell had a stormer against Bradford.

Although Maine Road had character, it was the right thing to do to move to CMS / Etihad.
