with the academy doing so well there are now quite a few, but I’m looking for academy kids that we all hoped would make it, got to the first team, but for whatever reason didn’t quite make the grade at city. I’ll start with two
Stephen Jordan
Kieran Trippier

Edit. Apparently trippier didn’t male the first team. My bad

John Guidetti
Kasper Schmeichel
Michael Johnson
Nedum Onuoha (would he still count?)
Pablo Maffeo
Angelino

Diaz and Sancho don’t quite fit your description above but it’s a shame they never made it with us

Who was the Liberian kid we had, going to be the next Weah by all accounts. Don't think he started one league game.

An old friend of mine was very close to Steve Jordan and his family, he always used to mention that night before the derby when he knew he'd be facing Ronaldo, Steve was absolutely shitting it, and yet, he had a fantastic game, fair play to the lad.

Remember we had a few in the 80s on our books who we'd have loved to have had in their prime. Not sure how many were true youngsters through the club system though - Earl Barrett, Paul Warhurst, Neil Lennon and Ashley Ward spring to mind. Also Michael Hughes ?

Always though Ishmael Miller would make it, he had a couple of games for us where he looked a real unit striding down the left. Dickson Etuhu was another who I felt we sold too early, and I thought Karim Rekik looked like a classy centre back in the making. Mind you I thought that about Bischoff too.

Needless to say I don't get paid for my scouting abilities!
