Well done Darren Clarke. Brilliant performance - there will be some party in Portrush tonight.

Yip, and I left there at 15:30 today :-(
But three out of the last 5 majors won from a wee country of only 1.5 million people.

Not bad lads, now to bring the open to Royal Portrush in a few years time.

3 Major winners from N Ireland will the Open ever be played in N Ireland at Portrush in the years to come. If ever there was a country that deserves to hold the Open for 1 more time and to have 3 major winners still playing the game I would love it for the 3 lads to play a Open up in N Ireland.

Have to say this is great for golf all over Ireland a bit shit for myself IF I want to go out for a round of golf. When McIlroy won the last time my local golf course was booked out for a few days after it. Well done to Darren delighted for him. He will be classed British after this last week he was Irish now he wins a major hes British.

Nah, Leighton... Darren and Rory are as Irish as Black Bush.
My parents are from NI and they've never been called British in the 60 years they've lived in the UK. Mind you they've never played in the Open or Wimbledon.

I am waiting on Jacquelin he is in 8th place I need some of the players out there to drop a few shots so I get paid out. Delighted for Clarke if he holds on. I remember the Ryder Cup at the K Club and the emotion of him winning the Ryder Cup after his wife passed away. This win could well cement his place in the Ryder Cup next year as well.

Did you not back Jaquelin with Boyles, Leighton?

Well done Darren Clarke.

No the odds were better in Paddy Powers but 1 less place. I thought Fowler was going to miss that last putt on the 18th. Sadly for me it went dead straight into the hole.

My brother is green keeper in Portstewart and my mate is one in Royal Portrush will be a few sores heads this week

It is strange but whenever Tiger misses a Major there is a Irish winner. In 2008 Harrington won the Open and USPGA titles when Woods got his injury.

Now this year Rory won the US Open and Darren now has won the Open. I wonder if Tiger is not fit for the USPGA what Irish player will be lifting the USPGA this year?

Absolutely excellent from Darren Clarke. Made up for the guy.

I also won a few bob with a 5th placed finish for Rickie Fowler. Disappointed his putting wasn't great today. A level par 70 would have seen him finish joint second.

Sorry, But NORTHERN Ireland is a different country, so from now is the worlds Smallest Super Power.

Rory, Gmac and Daz are from Northern Ireland, they are not English, they are not Welsh, they are not Scottish and they are not from the RoI, so stop trying to steal our best sportsmen, though if you wish, i know of a few world "champions" we will be happy to donate to you, Billy Blast Bomb, Marty Molotov, and either or both Sammy Sniper or his half brother Sean Sniper, as we are fed up with all "them lot".

well done darren after all he gone through in recent years ! i really hope he makes this a habit. he can show the young nordy lads tips to keep them solid too(not that they need it)

now quit the sectarian crack... this is golf. fook off with that it s not wanted!!!

Golf in Ireland is a whole of Ireland sport. All of the 3 N Ireland lads all represented Ireland in the World Cup in years gone by.

Saying that the Irish Open in 2 weeks time will more than likely have all 4 major winners playing in it which will hopefully bring in some sponsorship for next year. To be honest I have said this before when Rory won his major that the Irish Open should be played up in Royal Portrush as golf is booming up in N Ireland and there should be a tour event up in N Ireland in my view so hopefully the GUI put the Irish Open up in N Ireland next year.
