The pain of our enemies

We're becoming victims of our own success.

The British psyche has a very awkward relationship with success. Years of celebrating mediocrity tends to breed contempt.

It's hard wired in. Statements like "it's not the winning that counts, it's the taking part" leads to failure mentality.

What M.C.F.C are doing is unprecedented. I know Chelsea had their initial success with financial backing but Sheikh Mansour's vision is huge.
He wasn't kidding when he said he wants the best football club on the planet.

The penny has dropped, hence the backlash.

Nothing the club has done these last eleven years leads me to believe that City will stop this quickly, assuming that were possible.

If I were to hazard a guess, I suspect they've given up on the UK, interests are too entrenched and it's a mature market.

Grin and bear it should be the club motto.
It should be "no one likes us, we don't care"

I never believed that, even from Millwall.

I'm not knocking all this bravado "we don't give a fuck, salty tears" stuff, but I don't buy it, never have.

I don't like my team being bad mouthed, even if it's half-arsed bullshit from media whores and scouse fuckwits.
It's not bravado, it's reality.
No one of us likes it, but is there anything we are able to do about it. The answer is no. They can't live with our success and this why we get the shit we do.
First we were noisy neighbors, then it was "never in my lifetime", then FFP, then oil money, then Arab dictators, now this and FFP again. We are interlopers, we've gatecrashed their cosy little cartel and they have it in for us. As far as I can see we carry on with our success and if they don't like us then we just have to shrug our shoulders and accept that we are never going to get any recognition or credit from our rivals, which is fine, it's not a popularity contest as far as I'm concerned.
Do you have any suggestions apart from go back to mediocrity and we can be everyone's favourite second team again?

Does their frothing at the mouth, their frantic and constant search for negative stuff, their outrage at our players singing, their desire to see us punished for having the audacity to break the status quo, their heads exploding that Gary Neville had a drop of beer spilt on him, their wide eyed, vein popping rage at every single event surrounding every trophy we win, make you enjoy it even more ?

It does me.
Yes!

I’ve never seen a reaction like this before. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen the media and a set of fans take a team winning the title.

It’s hilarious!

Even the sound Liverpool fan at my work hasn’t even looked at me this week, keeps walking the other way or looking the other way when he sees me.

What a desperate set of ****s they are!
