The PGMOL Apologies Thread

I think they actually do try to time it to the kick these days because it is always checked by VAR. They still come forward but they usually leave their standing foot back on the line. I imagine keepers actually practice this because it’s something of a skill.

The most egregious I’ve seen was Dudek in the Champions League final in 05. It’s absolutely absurd how far off his line he is. Even though the enforcement was very loose back then I still remember thinking at the time that the ref would surely tell him to retake it… but no.

Amazing how far Dudek was off his line. I remmeber Arsenal knocked out Spurs in the league cup and Almunia was doing the same as Dudek on almost every shot. I'm like how can the whole world not see this shit lol. I never noticed the standing leg thing I'll keep my eyes on that next time I see it

See they are doing that pointless show with Webb this week when they talk through incidents and release audio.
Probably this week so they can bring up Ake’s goal but until they release all audio from all games, they can cherry pick the decisions they want.
Guarantee no mention of:
Rashford Penalty, Wolves non penalty, both penalties in Dippers v Bournemouth, Forests red card, Salah being offside etc

Not sure about the others but they called this one as a wrong decision

Oh how long for a time when if a ref fucked up on the field you accepted it for what it was (he didn't see it, he's blind, whatever) and everyone moved on in their life. Now we have VAR fucking up at a secondary level and Howard Webb doing the media circuit the following week apologizing for the VAR fuck ups.

VAR in this country has been an abject failure. The use of technology enhances other sports but sadly the incompetent personnel running VAR in England have managed to turn it into a fiasco. Ranging from getting obvious decisions wrong to the manipulation of incidents to seemingly influence results, followed by weekly apologies, its beyond a joke now. IMHO the game was far better when all we had to deal with was the possibility of a referee's human error.
There's no chance of VAR being scrapped here, but it should be, until PGMOL sorts out the mess it's got itself into and comes up with a system like DRS which is fair to all and actually works.

They can start by being trained as a team and not all talking over each other in panic!

Strange how VAR seems to worked reasonably well in other leagues and like clockwork in the Euro final and World cup!
