I get what you're saying and there are many houses around built with very steep pitches. I built quite a few and they're a pain in the arse to roof. You also lose a lot of room with the sloping walls. In my valley they simply over engineer the shit out of everything, roofs have to be rated at 125lbs per square footNo I mean the roof pitch, steeper the better for snow.
Maybe the flat roof car port doesn't go back far
There's a lot of research done that actually keeping a lot of snow on the roof helps insulation, even though we require a minimum R49 in the lid. Also it prevents clearing snow away from siding and windowsHaha, straight on to a flat roof
