This is me with arthurMy great great grandad , arthur mottershead, who moved to Ancoats from Leek in 1896 and ‘chose’ City as his team, the glory hunting bastard.
All these years later and his descendants are still blues.
as an aside, arthur was gassed out of ypres in WW1, was invalided out. Joined back up and lost a few fingers in a blast in gallipoli.
Married 3 times. Loved a woodbine or 20. Worked as a scaffolder into his 70s.
he lived well into his 90s (photo of me on his knee as a new born somewhere), and never missed his lunch time pint in the black boy, baguley.
nice one arthur
