They've been in town all winter, several others too. A couple od mule deer herds too, been a really tough year for those poor critters. I read on Fish and Game that out of one hundred deer they'd tagged, fifty were deadI've got a blue ceramic container like yours.........I think I'll be using mine before you do.
Just hang onto the white stuff and don't go sharing it around. Keep the moose as well, the photo doesn't really show how high they stand.
Why do they seem to hang around your place?
Fifty percent mortality, I didn't realize it was so high. They've been in town all winter, several others too. A couple od mule deer herds too, been a really tough year for those poor critters. I read on Fish and Game that out of one hundred deer they'd tagged, fifty were dead
Their food source is my trees and bushes, last year they got into my fenced off garden and ate my raspberry patch. Last week there was a dead moose in a near by sub division and the locals called Fish and Game as they thought someone had tried to poach it, turned out the poor thing died because somebody had been feeding it. They're designed to get by on what they find in the wild, grains and corn can't be digested, their stomachs don't have the right bacteria and so they die a pretty nasty way. Another problem with feeding the wildlife is they lose their fear of humans and encroach more, resulting in lots of traffic deaths and dog interactions.Fifty percent mortality, I didn't realize it was so high.
That's the side that people don't see and why the wildlife should be managed.
I know wolves, coyotes and big cats all have to eat, but it's a pretty horrific death if you're a deer.
Moose are only a short drive north of me, but I'm not familiar with them here. I'm just surprised that they stay so close to them murderous humans that kill everything. Is there a food source?
We just get the small stuff, bloody 'coons, rabbits, skunks and f***ing coyotes.......and 52 mice caught in traps in the garage and shed since October. :)
That's a shame. Well meaning, but like many, they don't understand wildlifeTheir food source is my trees and bushes, last year they got into my fenced off garden and ate my raspberry patch. I don't know how to make a comment without it being a reply to another comment but at the bottom is " attach files" go to your gallery and post it from there. How about a simple explanation how to upload the photos.
