The photos thread

As of August 2024, over 54,000 people work directly at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

(And not one has a sense of humour) ;)
Largest employer in Chicago!

And, it’s aviation! If you don’t have a sense of humor, the chaos will eat you alive!

My mantra, both to my crew & my passengers is “Sometimes you just have to give yourself over to aviation!”

People don’t understand that aviation only works when the plane, the pilots, the flight attendants, the mechanics, the cleaners, the ramp/baggage workers, and the hundreds of passengers…all of whom have come together from different places (some of them overseas)…at the same place, at the same time to staff, fuel, load, feed and board the aircraft within a 1-2 hour window!

If any one aspect of that is thrown off by anything from weather to a crew member getting in a car accident/flat tire on the way to work…and everything in between, it doesn’t work exactly as planned.

THAT is the time one has to just “give yourself over to aviation.” Even as the Captain, there are times when there’s not a thing I can do about what is causing the problem and I just have to take a deep breath, inform the passengers to best of my knowledge, and explain to them that they, too, have to give themselves over to aviation.

:-)

Spotted a guy fishing on one of the reservoirs near me this morning. He must have been freezing.
Had to reduce the file size to get it to load, so image quality has reduced a little too.
