The Piccadilly Gardens Problem - new development proposal (P32)

Stop talking
Veitch and the shitstains around him are making it a whole lot worse. Absolute Parasites stirring up so much hatred and constantly attacking the less fortunate folk. Kids and grown up folk travelling down there to have selfies with these cunts. These are a big part of the problem now and exhausting a lot of police resources

That fake over exaggerated Manchester accent does my head in.............I was brought up in Gorton in the 60's and no fucker spoke like that. Why do they do it?

5 years Moss Side, 20 years in Blackley I still don't speak like that.

innit yo. hiyor bruvvor

Oh yeah and in the 60'/70's it was still shit. Full of tramps drinking wine, meths or paraffin from the road works lamps you name it and asleep on the garden benches. Stunk of piss in the bus shelters and bird shit all over the shop. Muggings galore.

So you are blaming a you tuber for the problems in Picadilly Gardens? I'd blame the Government for letting that lot in, In the first place Why don't you have a word with Burnham ???
I think on the whole people are saying they are not helping the situation, rather than how you took it. And how does Burnham stop them coming in? And who are "them" because I saw people of all colours and creeds nationalities being dicks.

But on the whole,. for me, these Youtubers who go to a town, a City, and start filming empty crisp packets on the floor whilst they tell us "This place is the worst in Britain", or the country is going to the dogs, or the City centre is just full of drugs and violence are just filling you with fear, then you demand that we all have IDs for everyone, the police to use excessive powers, for people to be "removed" from the country.

Manchester has some lovely parts and some shit parts just like everywhere else.

It never used to be an open square. That area of the city centre was designed with a huge building (the original MRI and Lunatic Assylum), so there doesn’t need to be a public square there at all.
Some of the more cynical among us would describe it as a lunatic asylum now. Hard to argue when you watch some of these videos. I remember growing up in Manchester in the 60s and 70s, when it actually WAS a gardens. That sunken area with flower beds and a grassed area. Was it utopia? Christ no; it was infested with winos. But it was a hell of a lot better than the disaster zone it is now. It's depressing watching those videos.

society has changed since then with a whole new set of problems and, along with social media, you have the end result in most towns and cities across the UK not just here.

Yeah mate all the vagrants and hobos only had the brutality and poverty to contend with as well as being survivors of wars and a harsh harsh life.

This cafe au lait mob in the gardens now are just soft twats, needy cunts and need escorting not so gently away from people who need to breath air.

Not having a go at you mate but it's just the way it is.

You have a point about it being a widespread problem. And yes; society has definitely changed. For the worse. But, without wanting to sound mean (but I probably am!), Manchester is my home town, even though I don't live there any more. It will always have a place in my heart. A place that none of the other cities and towns you're referring to does.

It needs ending as an open square. Stabbings in Piccadilly Gardens feel like a monthly occurrence now. It’s a failed area and just needs building on and forgotten about ever existing.

Make what is the ‘Gardens’ office blocks with bars and eateries on the bottom floor where people can sit outside, and then make the bus+Met station an indoor area eith an underground feel with a nice open roof above it that can be walked on with nice steps going up with security guards on during the day to stop the dregs of society going up there and lockable at night so nobody goes up there.

Also ditch the London-copied name (from the Railway Station up the road n’all) and call the area something else. Piccadilly is in London. Our Piccadilly Station was originally called Store Street Station and then we just pinched the Cockney name in the 1960s… small time behaviour.

But our Piccadilly and Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester has a bad name now so the name needs sending back the London and forgetting about. Call Piccadilly Gardens station ‘Portland Street’ and call Piccadilly Station ‘Manchester Store Street’ again or something completely new, something Mancunian.

I like that idea, think the use of a park is pointless now.

I have to live here and put up with these cunts if I venture into town.

I just ignore them and walk past and if anyone says owt they get a quick go and fuck yourself you scruffy ****. Apart from Market Street and around tib street area most of the rest of town is ok.

Or conversely just bring in very harsh laws in that area and get rid of anyone who fucks about, bring the gardens back (Maybe just a green open space) don't allow people to walk their Pit Bulls and XL's on it and have it as a nice family atmosphere.

It all starts with taking the rubbish out and stop treating the cunts like they are a special case.

Can we call London Road , southern nancy shandy drinking ponce street?

was a shihole in the 80s/90s full of tramps on cider/meths, muggers and proffesional beggrs, also had a police van parked up nightly to gaurd the place.

Difference was it was all hidden by hedges and flowerbeds and skcial media goons didn't exist filming said tramps and gamgs

I got mugged twice going through it as a teeneage, I walk through it for work mon - friday now and never had an issue once (older and wiser now so can spot a cumt to steer clear tbf) a shithole still but you can see where the dodgy cunts are bunched in the corners near bar burrito and near Queen Vic so avoid then once the sun goes down especially as the police don't station a van anymore at night and walk round not through

All these youtube bellends walking striaght up to them are gonna get a reaction obviously, and also do it to get one for clicks a lot of the smack heads were hidden away on dale st for years too until they built mala and they migrar
ted to the fardens and china town car park

Place is a dump but also looks souless and destitute, but it has been a dodgy place for near 40 years

Late '60's Scotch Dave was the cock of the alkys and Cockney Rance was in charge of the brass

The solution is a two-pronged approach, combining robust social support with targeted, tougher policing. Firstly, we must significantly enhance social support for individuals struggling with drug and alcohol dependency and homelessness. This involves expanding initiatives like "Housing First," which provides immediate, stable housing without preconditions, coupled with flexible, long-term support. It also means strengthening vital services such as the Smithfield Detox Unit for addiction treatment and mental health support teams, ensuring vulnerable individuals receive the comprehensive help needed to rebuild their lives.

Secondly, a tougher, zero-tolerance policing approach is necessary for those who refuse to engage with support and persistently engage in criminal activity. Specifically targeting persistent offenders involved in drug dealing, exploitation, and violence, sending a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated in the city centre.

And get rid of those bastard electric delivery motorbikes disguised as push bikes.

Theyre doing more than filming empty crisp packets...theyre filming human logs by the skip full..m/c city centre is full of it...seen people curling one out in daylight with me own eyes.
