The pitch at COMS is too big.

I actually wish the pitch was a big as it used to be before Hughes had it made smaller at the beginning of the season. As a bigger pitch suits our small highly technical players that prefer to pass the ball on the ground and use there pace to run into the big open spaces.
my point exactly. make it bigger god dammit

With a bigger pitch you get the added bonus of having the fans closer to it as well.

first thing howard kendall did when he arrived at maine road was to shorten the width of the pitch, personally it is not the pitch, it,s just the area between the defence and attack, nobody who can take control, ho for a gerry gow or an alan oakes?

When we left Maine Road the pitch was 107 x 71 metres.
At COMS, the pitch dimensions are approx 105 by 68 metres (However, this is slightly out of date as the pitch may have changed since the astro turf was put in over the summer around the permimeter.

So that means the pitch at COMS is smaller than the Maine Road pitch was...

** EDIT
Actually, I've just found this list of pitch sizes for this season, which according to this makes our pitch 106 by 70 metres
1. Manchester City, City of Manchester Stadium, 116 x 77 Yards, 8932

2. Manchester United, Old Trafford, 116 x 76 yards, 8816

3. Blackburn Rovers, Ewood Park, 115 x 76 yards, 8740

4. Everton, Goodison Park, 112 x 78 yards, 8736

5. Wolves, Molineux, 115 x 75 yards, 8625

6. Aston Villa, Villa Park, 114 x 75 yards, 8550

7. Hull City, K C Stadium, 115 x 74 yards, 8510

8. Arsenal, Emirates Stadium, 114 x 74 yards, 8436

9. Sunderland, Stadium of Light, 114 x 74 yards, 8436

10. Wigan Athletic, JJB Stadium, 114 x 74 yards, 8436

11. Portsmouth, Fratton Park, 115 x 73 yards, 8395

12. Chelsea, Stamford Bridge, 110 x 75 yards, 8250

13. Fulham, Craven Cottage, 110 x 75 yards, 8250

14. Liverpool, Anfield, 110 x 75 yards, 8250

15. Birmingham City, St. Andrews, 110 x 74 yards, 8140

16. Tottenham Hotspur, White Hart Lane, 110 x 73 yards, 8030

17. Bolton Wanderers, Reebok Stadium, 110 x 72 yards, 7920

18. Burnley, Turf Moor, 112 x 70 yards, 7840

19. West Ham United, Boleyn Ground, 110 x 70 yards, 7700

20. Stoke, Britannia Stadium, 110×70 yards, 7700

looking at that i think we could reduce it to 114x75 ,i think this would help us play at a higher tempo, break quicker and help protect players abit more from fatigue.
spurs arsenal and both scousers all good home teams with shorter pitches.

Utter tosh-went on a ground tour last week and they said that ever since we moved to the stadium, it has been the exact same measurements with absolutely no change whatsoever in the time since. 105 x 68 metres (UEFA standard for European and International football, and the preferred Premier League size) is the same as United, Arsenal, Villa, Spurs, Blackburn, Liverpool, Everton and a few others-we havent done too well at any of them traditionally but have been beaten just once at home in a year on a pitch that is the same size!

Which also makes the 'Mark Hughes made it smaller' comment wrong as well.

Why come on here with little or no facts then spouting off such tripe/excuses for poor performances by certain players? If I was paid a tenth of what they earn I would play on anything.

yeah, our pitch is the maximum size that European regulations allow.

Also we couldn't have it that much more smaller because UEFA have a minimum size too which is 10m shorter lengthways and 5m shorter width ways than the maximum size.

Essentially that would mean if Stoke got into Europe they'd be fucked.
