The Press, City need to get tougher with them

It will change.

Sky are shitting us as we threaten their cartel in more ways than one. We don't depend on their money and a shot across the bows would be a media tie up with ESPN.

I don't want to put a spanner in that works mate but Murdoch owns Espn (or Fox Network to be pedantic)

I thought Disney owned ESPN?

If not, my bad.

Sorry you are right first time I am getting my facts wrong. But it appears they have some kind of tie in deal with Sky.

a couple more years and then we will hold the power to control the press and theyll be arselicking us like gay rimmers

Whilst I wouldn't quite of expressed it like that, you are absolutely right and I think this is the attitude the club are taking. At the moment, they (the press) don't need us to sell papers. They do need United particularly, Liverpool and the top London Clubs. This will change and then slowly, but surely, the papers will come onside and if they step out of line we may take a Fergie stance. He abuses his power, but at least we will then be the position to decide whether or not to persue these parasites .

At the moment, it would have to be something that really has the potential to cause the club harm for the club to sue. The question that really has to be asked is how these 'journalists' and their owners sleep at night.....not because of their attitude to us (in the greater scheme of the real world, football is just entertainment), but because they abuse their power in the same way over much more important matters....the Mirror may be our particular enemies, but the Daily Mail is actually a much more sinister vehicle and the 'King' of disgusting untruths. Unfortunately, there are a number of others working hard to grab their title.

If the club gets upset over articles like the Tevez one and threatens legal action it will backfire big time. What happens if a reporter latches onto a story that does have a grain of truth? If the club doesnt take legal action they'll effectively be confirming the story.

The Tevez stuff is just the sort of nonsense that we have to get used to. I'd prefer the club to simply ignore all speculative stories about existing or prospective players.

If I was within the club I'd be hunting down this journo & threatening legal action.
If you went around threatening legal action for something like that, you'd quite rightly get laughed out of town. Which rule of law exactly would you threaten them under? China perhaps? Saudi Arabia? Or maybe even the UAE? Because you certainly wouldn't get anywhere under British law.
