The pressure's building

I would prefer to have points than games in hand, but I agree that we should just take it one game at a time.

I do think however we have failed once again in the league this season, new manager or not - and just like last season - we are have gone into two title campaigns with the best first XI and overall squad yet come up short last season and looking like we might do the same this season, that's failure if you ask me.

Win the games in hand and I will be full of optimism again, but at the moment I have Chelsea or Liverpool winning the league this season.

We rattled our chances with our opening 5-6 months, and I just think if we don't win it this season then in ten years time it will be looked back on that this City side could have and should have won the title three years in a row.

How this Chelsea side is top I don't know, a Chelsea side that is one of the worst since it's takeover as they have no decent striker in their lineup, but credit to Mourinho, and Liverpool to be fair is a credit to proper football coaching so fair play to Rodgers, that man is going places.

I just don't want this great team we have at the moment to be looked back on as a good cup team, it could be so much more yet in typical City style we make a mess of things here and there, i.e. capitulating under Mancini last season because of a supposed player revolt and fall out, and the opening 5 months away form of this season.

To be fair our injuries this season have meant that we have very rarely had a full strength squad and considering we're still in all comps I think we're doing quite well.

Liverpool seem to be gathering momentum

Chelsea are a machine

It's still in our hands

The run-in to the title is going to be a testing affair.

Are you up to coping with it?

Go on, be honest........

I would be absolutely amazed if we do not win it as we have a much stronger first eleven and squad in comparison to our rivals. That will surely tell at some point.

From the Chelsea team at most you could argue Cech, Terry and Hazard would get into our team and their squad is so badly balanced with not a decent striker amongst them. It will be a great opportunity missed if we fall short.

I really would like us to power on now and sweep everyone aside. Just to wipe Maureen's face in it.
Let's take one game at a time. Man up and prove our integrity!!
We certainly have the squad and manager to pull this off.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

ALSO NOOOOOOO!!!!

It's all too much for me...

What a magnificent place to be right now, debating if we can cope with wondering if or how many trophies we'll win or if we'll win the premiership for the second time in two years. Absolutely priceless :-)

First bit of silverware which should ease some of the pressure off management and players alike. All this talk of mulitple trophies needs binning. One game at a time, I agree the games are going to come thick and fast once the FA cup quarterfinal is out of the way but as long as players are fit and doing their jobs rotation can keep them going. Onwards and upwards.

There is a reason GDM that some are made for battle but not necessarily the war.....

If we come up short we lose with dignity, not this pathetic toy out the pram bollocks that infests the forum

Let's have it

WHAT?

Looking at the players reactions after the game toady and also MP's Id say the pressure is defintely getting to them.

There was definitely a sense of relief more than celebration at the end of the game from the players. MP is a pretty understated calm guy anyway but he had a look of a man that knew the pressure was there to win more and wasnt overstating the win (not that that is his style anyway)

Pressure is on even with this win.........but we are continuing to develop an attitude and team ethic to deal with it.

I dont expect anything in the Champs league Onever had this season) but we have a damn good chance in the FA cup with the draw we got vs wigan

As for the prem...think we will finsih second or third......Liverpool and Arsenal away (to a lot lesser extent) are big big tests plus the derby at the dump..might be a tep to far...but a domestic cup double is a damn good season for MP in his first season.......

You don't count this as celebration?

Goodbye Joleon, please stay with the programme, love you.
This just got better.

Winning any sort of cup in the English League is a great achievement, simply because it takes some fucking doing. For a new manager to achieve this in his first season, is remarkable, and by any stretch to still be involved in three other cups by this stage is a job well done, in my opinion. Newcastle, who nobody really fancies playing, haven't won jack shit for, (I think) over 50 years, so this quqadruple talk is very nice, but by no means is this season going to be a disappointment, whatever happens.

I was fucking tense today . What a relief to win are 1st trophy with Pellergrini . A turd at my work last night remarked we were in 4th last night . I hate these creatures who like to be negative towards my team . Anyway this turd supports Bradford City so he had nothing to gloat about yesterday . He also told me last week we would lose to Sunderland .

Im talking about what went on on the pitch directly at the end of the game.........and also during it (our performance espeically first hlaf looked like it was one that was caused by us having the presesure of expectation on the players minds)...but like i said we delt with it well and deserved to win in the end.

Why?

the celebrations were defintely muted

and I was proved right in what i said in the pre match thread....their goal came from our left side of defense...kolorov not even in our half when they scored....MDM getting caught for pace in behind and Kompany having too much to do on the cover.....Id say my concerns were pretty much born out....

I also said that Kolorov was probably there for his attacking intent.....he set up nasris goal

I also said that dzeko over negrado had to be because of injury - and suprise suprise Dzeko was awful and negrado only got a few minutes (which must have been down to him not being completely match fit)

think i was pretty much spot on actually

I have a very funny feeling that we are going to witness something very special in the Nou Camp.

Success breeds success, well done today lads, great 2nd half.

These players should be thriving off pressure.
