The Problem LB area

i would 100% go for Filipe Luis - he plays for deportivo - was the best full back in La Liga last year until he got injured for about 4/5 months - he is a LB but even outshone Mr Alves while he was playing - very good player, will defend well but his attacking is brilliant, he recovered from his injury aswel apparently - ie he played a few games at the end of the season too and i dont think i would cost much more than £15million even with the city tax added on

Ashley Cole would be good but we could never pry him away, although he is a first class mercenary who loves money.

Some other options:
- Luiz (Benfica)
- Lahm (Bayern)
- Bale (Spurs)
- Marcelo (Madrid)
- Maxwell (Barca)
- Chiellini (Juve, CB but good at LB)

All of them would be tough to sign though... might end up playing one of our own at LB like Lescott.

- Luiz (Benfica) Centre back
- Lahm (Bayern) Right back
- Bale (Spurs) Left wing
- Marcelo (Madrid) Left wing
- Maxwell (Barca) may aswell be a left winger
- Chiellini (Juve, CB but good at LB) Centre back

Georgi SCHENNIKOV, here is what i wrote about him last summer. Also, he would now fit into Mancini style of playing, an attacking full back who can dribble with the ball and produces a decent cross.

Another Moscow based player, this time with CSKA. This lad is the reason why CSKA have sold Zhirkov to Chelsea. Ok, he is only 18, but i can honestly say there isn't a more talented left Back within the game. That goes for Gibbs or anyone else you can think of. He made his debut last season at the age of 17. His positional play could do with some work, as he tends to get caught a little up field, but that will come with experience. Can be seen as a bit of a hot head, but in my opinion he is a youngster who doesn't shirk a challenge. This can be seen this season by his 2 yeelows and 1 red that he has recieved after 8 appearences. Georgi has the potential to become one of the best players of his position in the world.

In this season's CL he kept Maicon very quiet during the 2 legs and is a cert to move on to a bigger club sooner rather than later.

Here is a vid of him. Not much on youtube though

Criscito (and not on the basis of his performance against New Zealand as I've only just turned the TV on) could be worth a punt.
I'd take David Luiz but he'd probably play predominantly as a CB if he signed I think, but good to have versatility.
Kolarov I've seen little of but looks good - same with Taiwo who for some reason has been dropped for Heinze at club level (Heinze is damn good though as much as i hate to admit it)
Cissokho who I have seen often would be an ideal signing. Can't see that though.
Lahm no chance.
Realistically I think if we choose to deal with this area the signing will be David Luiz/Chiellini.

i liked the look of criscito, would take clichy too. both gettable imo.

I'd take Carlos Salcido from PSV. I know he's not getting any younger but he's having a decent world cup so far. He gets forward well, and gets back to defend. He also looks like he's got an eye for a goal.
He's 30, I think, so we could perhaps get him for about 10 mill?

I think our weakest link is the left back position , and I hope we sign of these players to solve our problem :

1- Nadir Belhaj " Portsmouth"
2- Kolarov
3- Bastos " Brazil "
4- Cissoko
5- Drenthe
6-Taiye Taiwo " Nigeria "
