The problem with hughes - imo

Have you ever watched Hughes when city score a goal. There is no excitement there, no passion, no enthusiasm. The other week in Europe when we scored first, the camera panned round to hughes and he was stood there and then looked at his watch ???? Not a smile, nothing, just looked at his watch as if to say what you doin' lads, this isn't the game plan.

When he does his interviews he looks like he's trying to avoid looking at the camera and always looking down, perhaps maybe he is one of those people who isn't comfortable in front of camera or perhaps he just lacks confidence.

In my opinion this is what is causing the problems in the team (one or two players excused, ie: Ireland to name one). The team doesn't have the passion, the desire or commitment to win. Most of the players don't have the self belief or confidence to believe we can win. All this is stemming down from the Manager whether he wants to believe it or not and it is having a negative effect on the players.

We don't just want a manager who turns up and treats the role as a job, we want a manager who shows enthusiasm and jumps up and down when the team score. Without trying to bring the rags into this, take a look at alex ferguscum when united score, there is a big grin, his arms at in the air and he's up off his seat. That shows a manager who is passionate about the club, then look at Hughes when we score and look at the look on his face. No emotion whatsoever.

And in my opinion that is what the biggest problem with the team is at the moment, no confidence, no self belief, no enthusiasm for the game and a manager who looks like he doesn't care less when we do score.

Sorry Hughes, but I think you are out of your comfort zone and well and truly out of your depth with this club.

I reckon Hughes would serve us better as a player than as a manager, even at his age !

To be fair - in the main, Hughes does celebrate goals. Always in the same way mind, with a sort of hand clap and turn but that's still a celebration. Always open to interpretation though to me, he has looked a mix of delighted / relieved / satisfied over the season as we have scored.

Thing is... I reckon he would be in his comfort zone / skill set were there not this unreasonable media fuelled first - fan driven second weight of expectation. As a fan - I do expect and I'm mighty fucked off with today's result though a decent slice of realism is always applied. He's looked at City as the next step in his career, a promotion from Blackburn if you will, he's nothing to gain by being shit but he has a fair amount personally to lose if he fails. And it seems he is failing. No winners here - not him, not us.

Personally, I'm in a quandary. I just want success - I don't really care who brings it - I just want it and that's what we all have in common. I'll not shed a tear if and when he goes - there's my cards on the table, though he should not be castigated by those who claim to support without any foundation, proof or substance to the argument. Hughes doesn't celebrate when we score? - Give me strength for fucks sake - two words - bigger picture. That said, there have been some piss, piss, piss poor, badly judged substitutions throughout his reign but it's easy to be objective from the couch and I've not had the privilege to take part in first team training - how many have?

There is undoubtedly a confidence issue with the team - It's certainly a combination of factors with the manager ultimately responsible. So... give him enough time to resolve the issue or give him enough rope to hang us all? - It's not for us to decide, we're just willing customers.

I Agree totally the lack of passion for the club in the players is reflected from the manager!

Some interesting posts, Hughes saw the job at City as a sideways step from Blackburn with better pay, he has no passion for City.
He is part of the PROJECT!!!, if he is still here next season, then we are looking at a 10 year plan.
Sack the board!!!.
