I think we'd cope. You underestimate the resilience of the vast majority of British citizens. But, that's just my opinion.

The queen is pretty much the only person in the country who is widely liked by most people across most social and political lines.

She is a model of leadership, dignity and decency. Something all our politicians should learn.
