The Queen's been given a pay rise

Re: The Queens been given a pay rise

Yes.

The Royal Household consists of thousands of workers from kitchen staff to library workers to the queen herself, they are paid through the crown estate which is NOT funded by the tax payer she surrendered her royal proceeds to the government who in return grant her finances to represent this country abroad for economic, trade and international bonding, the royal estate made a profit for this country of around 250 million which in turn is given back to the government for spending on the nation.

Re: The Queens been given a pay rise

How the hell have we still got a Queen and a Royal Family? It's 2013 for God's sake.

If it only costs us 50p per year then I want my 50p back please. She's not my queen.

Re: The Queens been given a pay rise

The only time she smiles is at Ascot?
And don't get me started on her husband.
Diana was reeling them in until ?

Where's your figures please. Please include the security costs.

Re: The Queens been given a pay rise

The Queen's official expenditure increased by £900,000 in 2012-13, compared to the previous 12 months.

Sir Alan Reid, Keeper of the Privy Purse, said the figure was a "real terms reduction".

------------

I don't see many big business's offering their staff a reduction of the "real terms" variety when it comes to pay talks.

The Crown Estate is not funded though tax payers you are correct however it's is essentially owned by them. The profit made by the Crown Estate has bugger all to do with the Queen so why is she getting a pay rise? Are the kitchen staff and library workers getting 5% pay rise as well?

Re: The Queens been given a pay rise

If we didn't have the Royal Family, then this country would lose a hell of a lot of it's tourists!

It's not just her its the whole royal family, they undertake on average over 3,000 international engagements per year, imagine how much that would cost a president or any other head of state you would choose ... Take the monarchy away and Britain would be 250 million down.

We could always sell the palaces to Noel to reignite his theme park empire. If there is one thing mericans love it is theme parks.

The 250 million that you are quoting is not due to the Queens international engagements. The Queen didn't make 250 million profit last year the Crown Estate did which includes things like retail parks.

Paris receives more tourists than London, apparently.

They have a palace that people visit as well. It's one of Paris' biggest attractions. But apparently people only visit Buckingham Palace to get a glimpse of the Queen.

-- Thu Jun 27, 2013 11:12 pm --

Versailles gets far more visitors than Buckingham.

Yes and a Buckingham palace theme park would make even more money, just think about it a load of mickey mouses dressed in bearskins - an excellent idea, even if I do say so myself.
