Heads down, here come the left wing loonies with their ludicrous ideas.

I'm here with a loony idea called Democracy, is that ok with you?

Do yourself a favour and come back when you've educated yourself enough to escape the infantile prejudices you were indoctrinated with since you were old enough to pick up the Daily Mail.

Pfft. Imbecilic right wing nutjobs out in force with this one!

Don't you think that having a monarch adds to democracy? Royal assent is at least one final sanity check before something passes into law. I certainly don't see being a monarchy as counterproductive to a democracy.

The royal family have no concept of real life. They would pass a must have 7 courses for tea law.

Assent could easily be a power granted to an elected head of state, not that it would ever be used, how undemocratic would that be? I honestly don't see any benefit an unelected hereditary Monarch brings that an elected head of state could not.

Monarchy has nothing to do with Democracy, they are separate concepts. Monarchy fosters the mob-ocracy that passes for democracy in this country. Royal assent isn't the Monarch saying "I agree with this law it's not insane" but was a pragmatic solution to a historical stand-off. If ever the Monarch attempted to ( publicly ) interfere in a constitutionally legitimate piece of Law making then we'd have the same problem but it's likely a very different outcome.

Off with their heads I say!
;)

These types of threads on the Royal Family always make me laugh. Especially on this message board for Manchester City Football Club who are owned by a member of another countries Royal Family.

Hypocrites.

I will support City no matter who owns it, we dont pay for the Sheik but we do pay for the Windsors so every right to moan......
