Or if the golden jubilee medal is anything to go by, you can get one for £30 from ebay!

The monetry value off all of them mean nothing. Earning them and proud to wear them means more

Really, I know how proud my grandad was of his! My grandad had that many but he went all the way from el alamein, through north africa, Sicily and monte casino, got a mention in despatches as well. What regiment/corps are you in?

I agree that monetry value means nothing, as those that I wear are those that i have eanred, and those that are worn on the RHS are worn in even more value that money cannot buy, but those which I value the most are those that were awareded to ME for what I did, rather than just for remaining in force, and I feel that you will always look upon the two Gulf medals, the Afghan and the Bosnia - Serbia - whatever with more memores than either of the Jubilee medals, but the LSGC is the one that you will look back on with he fondest of memories, and the saddest of memories in years to come when you are sitting at home on Armistice weekend watching the festival of Rememberance, shining your best shoes and using as much brasso as needed to look fitting the next day on parade with the RBL or your local Association to remember those that never made it.
On Friday evening I will be on parade with my branch of the Royal british Legion to remember the first day of the Battle of the Somme, and will be standing in proud memory of my great grandfather that wil be listed on the Roll Of Honour, I will have all four on parade, but the three that i cherish the most are the LSGC, Accumulated Campaign Service and the Campaign Service, and after the parade, i will have a cup of tea and a few sandwiches with the youth organisations, and then pull up a sandbag to remember the things we used to get up to that the younger generation hopefully will never get to see, before raising a glass to absent friends.
Lest We Forget.

Sounds like your granddad had a similar war to mine. He'd never talk about it, but here's his medals. Shamefully, I don't know what they are, but I'm sure someone will. He also got an Italian sword and a couple of belt buckles off German soldiers - the spoils of war.

I hope this helps

All gave some.......

Spend time researching this part of your history, as the Gold Leaf on the far right ribbon could well have a lot of significance.

Got to proud of those. Different class those old boys. My grandad was the same, only ever remember him talking about his war once. Was one of the first into Belsen. Don't know how they did it.

My Granddad (RIP) was shot at the battle of Monte Casino. Lay in a ditch for three days, keeping his head down hoping to be picked up by Allies. He did the N.Africa route as well.
Trooper Thomas Williams, 17TH/24TH Lancers (Death Or Glory) Tank Div. Although it was that on top in Italy I seem to remember him telling me he started off in the armoured div, then infantry, battling in the trenches.
A very brave man.
