B. Primarily because we have little chance of winning the WC as it is, but with arguably one of the best strikers in the world out of it, we have no chance, and secondly because I couldn't care less what they win. What WE do is what should be important.
 
its not a question because even with rooney firing on all cylinders england have little to no chance of winning the world cup as there are maybe 5 or 6 teams much better than them.

While rooney maybe able to carry united in a premier league against teams like hull, sunderland et al, i seriously doubt he could drag the england team kicking and screaming to a world cup

I think we have a chance, but not a big one. Interested to know the 6 teams you think are better than us?
 
Its alkl about how you define better i guess. I would say Spain, holland, italy, germany, brazil, argentina are all better equipped to win a world cup than england!

I'd rather we have a better chance of winning on derby day and increasing our chances for 4th.


Just think how good would the CL be at eastland.

Can rule Holland out straight away, they always have imploded and always will at the WC. The south american teams have a reverse of their climate to contend with. It will be winter in SA and whilst I accept most of their players play in Europe anyway, I think this will have an effect on them. I agree with Spain and Italy, but not Germany. Like you say, all about opinions but with a fit and firing Rooney, we have as good of a chance as any. Don't forget we have a winner in charge this time.

We've beaten them with Rooney playing before, no reason why we can't again especially with an equally devestating Tevez in our side. I know some on here don't care much for the World Cup, or England as a whole, but I do. I can't wait for it actually.
 
With all respect to your analysis the fact that you say holland will implode straight away could also be applied to england in that both teams always go in with high expectations, the reverse climate argument doesnt really stand up given that the bulk of most of the south americans teams players play in europe anyway so can cope with changeable climates and why rule out germany. Thats why i changed better to better equipped germany are constantly ruled out in tournaments but you can almost guarantee that when they need to win they will and they will be there come the shake up at the end.

All this being said dont rule out an african team to do well also, while im not disputing that we have as good as chance as anyone ( which is the way it should be ) i just think that their are several teams better equipped to win than england

Fair do's mate. Only 2 and a bit months now, really looking forward too it. You're right about an African team, could be one or two dark horses from their. You got any plans for it, Englands opener especially?
 
Nothing major planned as of yet although thinking of treating myself to a new tv set up for the occassion, im looking forward to it as well, but not being properly english in that half my family is italian and the other half irish so although i was born here i have divided loyalties and look at it from a footballing point of view as opposed to a patriotic one hence my little diatribe there lol

haha will be lively at mine a few nationalities will be in play with various friends so i expect plenty of heated debates, well i currently have a 50" so am debating whether to get a 52" plasma and wall mount or to get a projector for around the same money for that proper pub atmosphere.

You got anything planned for it!
