The R question

haha will be lively at mine a few nationalities will be in play with various friends so i expect plenty of heated debates, well i currently have a 50" so am debating whether to get a 52" plasma and wall mount or to get a projector for around the same money for that proper pub atmosphere.

You got anything planned for it!

Just wall mounted my Samsung, wish i'd done it earlier too as it looks amazing.

Got a BBQ planned for the USA game, should be a good few lads and lasses here to make it a good day/night. Tend to do the group games indoors and the more pressurised knockout stage games in a pub.

Yeah im leaning towards the wallmount as its more lasting so ill prob go with that, good idea think pubs are definitely necessary for group games too many breakable things in the house

Its alkl about how you define better i guess. I would say Spain, holland, italy, germany, brazil, argentina are all better equipped to win a world cup than england!

Can rule Holland out straight away, they always have imploded and always will at the WC. The south american teams have a reverse of their climate to contend with. It will be winter in SA and whilst I accept most of their players play in Europe anyway, I think this will have an effect on them. I agree with Spain and Italy, but not Germany. Like you say, all about opinions but with a fit and firing Rooney, we have as good of a chance as any. Don't forget we have a winner in charge this time.

exactly, can't believe anyone who is English doesn't care about us winning the world cup. always get one or two bells though

Personally I hope this injury is much worse than expected and he has to have his foot amputated and can never play again

I suspect it's only gonna be a minor injury though unfortunately.

I know we've had a few ding-dongs in the past mate, and certainly not trying to initiate another, but for England's sake why would you say that? If you don't give a toss about England then fair enough.....

Rooney never does for England what he does for the Scum...we are not a 1 man national team.

I think their is quite alot of people who in reality couldnt give a toss about england and club football is much more important to them. The reality of that being that the majority of people havent had a chance to see england live so dont feel any specific connection to them and because rivalries run so deep in club football it is an anathema to them to support someone playing for one team who they have a deep dislike for one when playing for the other. I mean yeah rooney is playing v well at the mo but realistically because he is having a good season does he get special dispensation over chuckle, terry, wio etc in that he cant be hated?

but it doesn't take a genius to work out we have more of a chance of winning it with Rooney than without him.

-- Wed Mar 31, 2010 12:14 pm --

This.

I was at OT for the qualifier v Greece in 01'. Never ever experienced tension like that other than the 99' Wembley win. Loved every minute of it and as soon as that free kick was given I think everyone in the ground knew what would happen. Top piss up that day too.

I wasn't being serious about the amputation

I do give a bit of a toss about England, but it just doesn't compare to City. I'd be quite happy for rooney to be out til the end of the season and if he wasn't to be fully fit for world cup? So be it. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, unlike if tevez was injured til the rest of the season

Not really interested in England to be honest and he comes back when he comes back. The media bore me with all this will he wont he stuff.Personally if we are good enough on the day we'll beat yoooonited with or without Shrek.

No. He is quality and nearly always scores against us. I hope he will be sidelined for ages. As for England, Gary Neville, Wes Brown, Michael Carrick, Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney and David Beckham don't represent me.

Is that because they have played for, or currently play for united by any chance?

Yup :-)

Tbh I don't know why but I have very little interest in our national footy team - whereas the 1995 Ashes series reduced me to tears of pride.

you can add ashley cold, john terry, steven gerrard, aaron lennon to those that dont represent me 2 and none of them play for the rags

Fair enough if you don't have any interest on the footy team, i'm surprised at how many don't to be honest. One thing though, its July, we're in the final and are drawing 1-1. 5 mins to go Rooney pops up, or Carrick for that matter, and bangs in the winner. I expect no emotion from you if that is the case Mr. ;-)

Well, I might celebrate a wee bit if that happens.....
