The 'racist' Aussie KFC ad

If an Indian gave out McNuggets to pacify the so called Barmy Army I would not be offended.

Cricket banter is mostly good natured and diversity is celebrated to a certain extent more than other sports.

No, you tell my where the racism is.

I watched that and didn't even register that most of the people were black at first. I had to watch it twice to get your angle on it.

It's just a guy in the 'away' end who are partying presumably because their team are winning. The cunning guy distracts everyone by serving up free chicken, where's the problem?

Honestly, anyone who saw that as racist has problems and is looking way too deep for something to complain about.

You've just proved my point, I won't insult you by calling you thick, you're probably too stubborn to want to see it.
But it's all there: the unruly blacks... the clever whiteman... clever white massa dishes out chicken to the savages... they calm down... white massa takes the whiphand.

It's very naive of KFC to think that some people won't read the history of slavery into this. I repeat again, that their intention wasn't to cause offence. But they have and they've only themselves to blame. Not the "PC gone mad" brigade.

I'm not stubborn at all, I just don't see the world the way you obviously do. When I see a black fella, I don't see a colour, I just see a fella. (Why do you WANT me to see it?)

"Unruly blacks"
"Clever whiteman"
"clever white massa"
"savages"
"whiphand"

Are you being serious?

Man, you have a strange view of the world. I'd actually suggest that if you see all that in that advert, you are the one with race issues.

is this a wind-up? surely their marketing team have just made a complete disaster here..

one of KFC's biggest demographics in The USA are african-americans, or should i say "southern fried chicken" as this recipe was originally slave food with ideas eventually stolen by corporations.

This advert claims that if loads of non-whites are going crazy around you just show them a bucket of fried chicken and they'll all calm down...

Disgraceful, how would you all feel if a video shown loads of white guys all going crazy at a football match then some black guy undresses his 5yr old daughter and every white guy all sits down and perves on the little kid?
After all every white man is a peadophile right?

No, wrong! just like not every nonwhite person enjoys KFC.

wtf? I think this advert was a bit of a retarded decision by someone, but you can't say that implications of collectively liking fried chicken is that same as implications of collectively lusting after 5 year olds!!

the whole ad is a dig at nothing. a culture of fophands that seem to be big on the radar, have made this possible. i clap my hands for the kfc boardroom, as its obviously partytime in chicken towers.

if this is a turning point in the ridiculous world of 'blackboards' and 'honkys', fuck me.. sign me up.

well done captain.

I'm trying to explain what people who are offended by it may see. The stereotypes are there and you only have to scratch the surface to see that. When I first saw the ad, I just thought "what a shit ad".
But knowing that it had kicked up such a fuss in the USA, I viewed it through the eyes of Kunta Kinteh and thought "red-neck Aussie twats."
