The rebuild has started. Who goes?

Can see one of Stones or Ake leaving unfortunately, both are great players but they are made of glass. Hope Ake stays and we can slowly transition our two new CBs into the team.
Think they both stay, even if they leave if we wanted to replace them it would need to be a homegrown replacement probably. No real reason not to keep them at least for one more year, especially with their experience around the squad of knowing what it takes to win a league. Plus when fit they are both very good players.
With Carson ,Walker, gone Grealish is the only homegrown player I can see maybe leaving, even that I’m not sure will happen.

The one player we're really carrying going forward is Haaland and he's just a spare part at the moment except for poaching the odd goal. Pep had Ibrahimovic at Barcelona and he never really worked in that team. It feels like there's just not enough energy or control in midfield so maybe it's worth trying something different?

Maybe Pep could try a false 9 for a game (Marmoush?) and see how it goes as Haaland needs competition too. Teams know how we'll play now and they just put two centre backs against Haaland and he's basically isolated, didn't he have only 10 or so touches for the entire Arsenal game?

Completely the wrong way around. Haaland has carried this team. He's the one that has consistently performed all season, you give him chances he scores and we'd basically be united without him. he can't do anything if the players behind him don't look for him. Blaming haaland for not being involved as much is the same as having our keeper deliberately kick the ball out into touch every single time he gets it and then blaming the back 4 for not being able to build from the back.

I agree change is needed but the change shouldn't be to drop the one player who has performed, it should be to start to use him more. We gave him one opportunity against arsenal and he took it. We actually used him against Chelsea and look what happened, his hold up play and channel running lead directly to goals.

Bang on! Wish there was a 'Double-like option'...

I just think we need to change it up because we've been figured out and that isn't unusual but the big players aren't making the difference. I'm not saying he needs dropping or isn't performing.

Aguero had periods where he was injured but we were able to change it up and win without him. At the moment it doesn't feel like that but not because Haaland is really in form but rather because we never try anything else.

Real Madrid and all the others are going to watch that Arsenal game and see this is how you beat city and our only response will be to do exactly the same thing again albeit hopefully better.

We've got players like Marmoush and Savinho now who are young and lively, we just need something different up our sleeve with a bit more energy going forward for me.

Ederson (sadly), Ortega ,Gundo, one of Ake/Stones, KDB, Grealish,Walker (permanent) Nunes, Kovacic and Doku

I would keep but think will leave Bernardo, if Bernardo goes, keep Kovacic.

In: one of Musiala/Wirtz/ Cambiasso, RB, Top class CB, 2 CM Players and 2 Keepers.
Nunes aint going anywhere. hes currently in the side, is not old and his value has if anything decreased.

agree on a first class attacking midfielder, probably more in the gundogan mould than Musiala type as much as would love us to buy him. especially as you would think that role has to be occupied by now by Foden/Marmoush.

reasonably its Ederson out the door to be replaced with a first choice keeper. Ortega stays as back up and Carson whatever, no need to sell 2 and buy 2 for a position that doesn't usually need rotation - keepers shouldn't really be getting injured too often and a kid should be promoted to 3rd choice. its good for the club.

Right Back is essential. Nunes can be back up/utility player. Ake/Gvardiol as left back. Akanji coukd be the one to be moved on IF they think Reis is a first team squad player.

Gundogan, Kev are dead certs to go. Walker as well of course. Mcatee should go if he has any sense and at 22yo he isnt good enough lets be honest. Grealish will hang about like the posh town drunk, fat on cash and stinking the gaff up.

otherwise we are stacked at winger and forward positions.

Out: Ederson, Gundogan, Kev, Walker, Philips (is he still here?)
In; Right back, Midfielder.

Defenders: New Right back, Khusanov, Dias, Stones, Akanji, Ake, Gvardiol, Lewis, Nunes

Midfielder three will be Rodri, Kovacic, Gonzalez, Bernardo, New player, Nunes, Lewis, Foden and perhaps O’Reilly.

Wingers will be Savinho, Bobb, Doku, Foden, Marmoush, Grealish

Strikers/no10; Haaland, Marmoush, Foden

To be honest it looks a bit shit but thats because a lot of the players dont yet match up the heritage of those being replaced and we dont know most of the new lads.

But id never really heard too much about Rodri, Kev, Dias, Cancelo, Ederson before we signed them…

In complete agreement with you on the need to change, I've been banging that drum for months on end now, but the change shouldn't be to drop our best performer all season, the change has to be in the tactics and the approach we have to games.

IF Nunes is happy to be a bit part squad player next season I agree he has to stay, very versatile and decent player to come off the bench.

Keep both Ederson and Ortega. Carson should be given a coaching role.

Walker out; everyone agrees. Stones and Ake too injuryprone to be trusted. I leave that decision to the medical staff. Like them both but that’s not important.
No problem with what’s left in defence.

Gundo should end his career and join the coaching staff. He can take over from Pep.
KdB it’s up to him. Another season doable. Leave together with Pep.
Kovacic. Very good in the current line up and level we perform. No dynamism and not good enough when we retain our level from former seasons. With Rodri back maybe it’s his time as well.

Frontline like it is. Enough options and quality.

It’s up to Pep and his team to create. Again. And under the wings of a new director with Txiki gone. The latter has done his bit.
