the results that can see us finish 7th

I think some of these numbers look a little too optimistic.

we probably need to win ALL our remaining matches, and I don't think we can set out for anything less.

at least if we beat ManUre wherever we finish if we can help bugger up their title challenge the season won't be a complete waste!

I don't know....I think 52 would likely be enough and we'd have a chance with 51. There are tough fixtures coming up for the teams around us.

Tin hat firmly in place but....

Would 8th be a blessing in disguise?

No UEFA cup next season, alright. But on the flip side, less tired legs and more coherent performances from key players, all season long... making 6th, 5th, even the top 4 an altogether greater possibilty. Think about it, our home form has been good for two seasons, add some better away performances, maybe the ability to score from set pieces with new, not-neccesarily-world class-players being easily able to do that... and imagine where we might end up?

you be getting the can't get top class player with no European football type posts

I think you have a point and whilst it may have some effect on the transfer window it may not be as big as expected. The key to this Transfer window is going to be the first 2 or 3 signings as this will set the tone of further signings. Either way we will have a stronger squad and better players once the season starts in August and if we've no europe I think a cup and top 6 will be the minimum target.

and as you say if we get the right signings in and the team gel very quickly who knows what possible.

To add to this no matter were we finish we will be going in for a world class player (we went for Kaka in Jan when we were too close to the bottom 3) weather we get on or not is a different question. But if we did this could be a catalyst for a series of amazing signings with those the expectations and possibly the target will increase

if we win both homes and draw the aways it might be enough, though the fatboys team will try to kick us off the field at the weekend

I think we will get 51 with Fulham getting 52.

They have a great home record as well, meaning they can pick up more points than people are giving credit for.
