The Rise Of Manchester City

all the contributions were pretty good except Gary Neville, who has clearly never got over our raise to greatness
Agreed. I enjoyed it except Neville got too much air time for me. Loved Nedum and Zabba's contributions but of course has there ever been a more erudite voice in football than Vincent Kompany ?
Ferguson was a bitter, ungracious sod which made it even better when we come out on top.

Are they Sky Productions or bought in, where Sly have no editorial control? Why do they still employ a range of canutes like Gary Nutter who can't help but try game after game to clumsily stick the knife in when we have just outplayed yet another team?
All made by Sky, yeah.

Depends if that’s all you take from it.

Souness, Keane, Redknapp, Richards, among others are all very complimentary about City (including the ones not on all the time like Darren Bent and Chris Hughton).

It’s only really Neville and Carragher who aren’t. And Carragher isn’t that bad about us, he’s just too biased about Liverpool and sounds overjoyed when we don’t win. Neville is just a bitter little fool, but having him on when United play is hilarious because he makes himself and that club a complete laughing stock in front of the whole country.

And Tyler has just been doing it all for too long and longs for it to be the mid-00s again. But other than him, and again Neville and Carragher, the commentary team are usually decent during the game n’all.

Sky are by far the best channel for pundits and coverage though, nowhere bloody near as bad as what’s made out in some threads on this site.

City get loads of good coverage on there. Ask fans of mid-table and bottom half clubs who have absolutely no pundits and they’ll tell us we’re lucky to have the likes of Richards on there because they have fucking nobody on sticking up for their clubs who are roundly slagged off as shit week-in-week-out by all the pro-top club pundits.

Sky do as good a job of making City documentaries as City+ does.

Just watched this on Now TV, entertainment in the documentaries section. It’s there ‘til July. You can get a free 7 day trail membership and just bin it afters. Was a decent watch, I didn’t even mind Neville - he’s a rag, gives it banter and is honest about his feelings in the documentary - can’t argue with that.

Mancini referencing the years without a trophy banner at the Swamp was very illuminating - it seemed clear that was an extra motivation for him and the squad.
Thats what I loved about Mancini, and always will.

He knew he had to take the fight to them at all levels, he understood them trying to humiliate us.

Roberto had the slight edge that was needed at the time. For all the great work thats gone on since, its easy to forget that Roberto's era was when the gritty nasty stuff had to be done. Similar with Gary Cook, a bit flash but guts and the ego to pull it off.

I'll always love that group of players, a bit of edge and attitude amongst them, brilliant group. Different than now but fantastic in their own way. Lots of bottle.

Whatever happened since the guy is an absolute legend.

Mancini was the perfect short-term manager for City. What he achieved was fantastic when you compare that team with the current one. Winning that first trophy (FA Cup) and then the title was immense. I think Conte is similar now and could do a fantastic job at Spurs next season..before he upsets everyone and moves on.
