As he moves to the last year of his contract do we stick or twist.
I dont like players playing the "I've not decided" game as we all know they're going, for nowt. The alternative seems to be sell him now.
He's repaid his fee arguably, but weve paid him very well, particularly in the last two years for very little return.
If he wont sign, I'm tempted to force his hand and sell now as we could actually realise a half decent return. In addition his fitness probs are very apparent.
I accept lots wont agree, theres probably no right answer, and maybe I'm worried about nowt and he resigns. But i doubt it.

A hyphen is small but powerful. ;-)

One cannot force anyone to do anything. It is his decision to make, and as we’ve seen with Guardiola, we need to plan for the future irrespective. Let him see out his contract and buy now for his leaving.

Up to Rodri, If he wants to go then let him. It's always been said that we don't want players who don't want to be here. If he stays then there is a risk he leaves on a free but if that's a real worry then I think the club might offer him a contract extension. I'm sure Maresca will have a view.

As long as he’s not doing a ‘Milner’……
Milner gave us five good years and then enjoyed another eight at Liverpool, which he would probably never have received with us. I bear no grudges, Rodri will be turning 31 next summer and by then will have given us his best eight years.

We have set a pattern for allowing players to see out their contracts, so I can see others following suit.

After Pep no player is worth worrying about. Either commit to the club or off you go.

I hope he stays, it’s his home. I would extend if the opportunity presents itself.

Seriously need commitment especially as we go from the genuis.

Gonna be so many players agents angling for a move or more money.

Keep but only if he wants to stay.

I hope I'm wrong, but I fear we've had the best of him at this stage. The injury has really affected him.
We knew it would. It’s probably why we’re quite relaxed about his contract situation. There is just no telling how many consecutive games he can manage before breaking down with an other injury, so we’ll likely push him too far again and pay the consequences.

As he ages then he will be drawn to a slower league, I’d say get one more season from him if we can but if someone comes in with a substantial offer then let him go.

There is no dilemma. He stays, non negotiable. he either signs a new contract or he leaves us in a free next summer. Too much change to even contemplate allowing him to leave this summer too. If Rodri isn't here next season, we could easily have a rocky season and miss out on CL football alltogether, with Rodri, he gets us that even in a bad season, that alone covers any fee we'd get for him.

If the right money came in, I’d cash in. He’s never going to get near what he was. He won us the CL, amongst plenty, and he has more than justified his fee.

Course, if he stays then all good. If a £50m offer came in though I’d say take it

Why would I pay now when I can pick him up for free next summer, particularly when the question over his fitness remains unanswered? Better to let City answer the question and save my Euros.

Agreed. The midfielders should be bought this summer to allow for a smooth transition. If Maresca is intent on a more expansive game and more mobile midfield, Rodri’s influence will diminish as the season unfolds.

I would say it depends on securing Anderson and one other top midfielder. Wharton would be my ideal.
Then I would thank Rodri, pocket a fee, and complete the rebuild.
I watched him in the last few games and he could not make elite recovery runs.
One of the best midfielders i have been lucky enough to watch.
