'The romance of the cup'.

It's the old english attitude of our cup competition is more important than anyone elses business and the final played at the home of football.

Whenever you hear players from the past talk they always say the F.A Cup was the big one, in other countries they're not interested in their cup competitions. I don't think it's our arrogance, we just value(d) it more than anyone anywhere else.

Yeah that's becoming less and less the case. I'd still love us to win it.

Its got to be champions league qualification. That's the most important thing for this club to move forward.

I know its important but would you rather look back in 10 years time and say "2011, what a great year. That's the season we finished 4th" or " 2011 what a great year, we won the FA cup".
Bigger picture.

Would you rather look back in ten years at a mass of trophies, or that one FA Cup before FFP rules kicked in and our accounts didn't work out, so we couldn't get into the CL, leaving the owners to write us off as a bad job, damn near bankrupting us?

I know what you're saying, and kind of agree, I would love to win the FA cup, but if we want to be looking back fondly in 10 years time we need CL qualification. I blame the Sky/CL 4, they ruined football!!!!

I seriously believe we will win the FA Cup and gain Champions League this year! Im not too fussed about the Europa League and looking at some of Mancini's team selections in the group stages i'd say he is pushing for the FA Cup and Champs League too

In an age when $ky pretend that football started in 1992 I love the fact that the FA Cup is still going after 140 years. This competition was the first national competition in the land, before the league was formed, and helped forge the rules of football at a time when there were many regional variants. City, a club with no history, first played in the competition a 120 years ago and first won it well over a century ago.

Despite all the money and hype in the modern game teams like Stevenage can beat Newcastle.

For me its becoming even more important again. Its a real competition where shocks can and do happen and unfancied teams can go all the way, which is as it should be in football.

The game as a whole would be much duller without it.

Champions League qualification for the good of the club. I'd say I'm more interested in the Europa League than the FA Cup as well.

I do understand people placing value on the FA Cup though. It's the oldest football competition in the world. Older than the league. That should and does mean greater prestige than other domestic cup competitions, here and abroad. I don't think it's necessarily anything to do with Little Englanders.

You need to win a trophy to kick start the rest.

We will make the champions league sooner or later (probably sooner) and our owners our are here for the long run. They're not going to up sticks and do one if we finish 5th this year.

bring back the European Cup Winners Cup

then the FA Cup has significantly more value again
