The RSF, The UAE and the killings in Sudan

hahaha,China!Why not!Axis of evil!

China has huge political influence in the African continent.

No point in pretending otherwise.

Be defensive as much as you want, it doesn’t change the fact and I’m not even calling them out for it, I’m just stating facts.

But its a thread about the atrocities in Dafur which our owners. Yes owners are complicit in.

So slag them off, I’m not stopping you.

Meanwhile I will look at the full picture rather than cherry picking to suit my own narrative.

I know nothing about Africa, but I once tried hard to understand something about Myanmar. In many places, there is no clear distinction between good and bad people. You could say everyone is bad—the police might be a private militia, or they could be another group of private militia fighting against the first. The kind of order you are familiar with does not exist there. The only rule that matters is who has the power to wield violence.

To be honest, this is something that is very much swept under the carpet with our fanbase with regards to our majority shareholder.

You only have to look at the Middle East thread on this website to see that many City fans have a strongly passionate voice of morality around our govt’s involvement with Israel and what Israel have been doing in Gaza, yet our fanbase are almost completely silent around Mansour being the Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of UAE and seeing their involvement in Sudan and Yemen.

Could you imagine what we’d say to Rags if the Glasers were into some appalling murderous shit?
Out of order.
In fact way out of order.
The situation in Sudan and Yemen is something that the City hating media use to attack us and our club. It is far more complex than simple media hatred.
It is also for the political section not here.

You seem far more educated on the subject than me and i was being quite general in my viewpoints but i do still stand behind the theory that the situation is entirely more nuanced than the idea the mansour is a bad person because of the position that he currently holds
No he isn't more educated than you about the subject. Just more vocal about it.
He doesn't bother mentioning atrocities the other side commit that doesn't fit his narrative.

Instead of me rolling my eyes at a local hotel housing Sudanese asylum seekers and how wedding receptions, 50th birthday parties and Christmas dos can’t be held there anymore, maybe I should be rolling my eyes at the UAE govt and wonder how much our majority shareholder is involved in it.

Knock yourself out. Just do it somewhere else.

He's every right to do it on here. I'm all over Israel for their Genocide in Gaza and anyone supplying them weopens. Im not going to be a big hypocrite and turn a blind eye to this. The UAE are behind these atrocities. Of that there is no doubt

It was in the fucking City forum. And then it wasn't. Why? Because it's fuck all to do with football. Here in the Off-Topic politics is the place for useless moralising.

The post I replied to was talking about rival fans, bots and AI bringing this topic up in media article comments sections and on social media. It was relevant to that post in that thread.

I don’t mind that those posts were moved to this thread from the media thread as it became more than that one reply. But our shareholders and what they do outside of football is as relevant to football and City as the charges thread or the media thread… and many other threads that aren’t directly about football or City in that part of the forum.

Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the majority shareholder of the City Football Group. I think this thread could easily be put in the Bluemoon forum as it’s not some generic world news.

It's not Israelis doing it so the usual suspects aren't frothing at the mouth. None of them were remotely bothered about a true genocide in Darfur. There won't be marches in London or Manchester this weekend and Bob Vulcan won't be leading a chant of "Death to the RSF". Pep won't be urging people to take to the streets of Barcelona over it.

And Sudan isn't an isolated clusterfuck in Africa either, so you have to ask the question whether decolonialism was really the right thing to do. By supposedly setting colonies "free" we've condemned the population of many of those countries to a life of oppression and misery, with their wealth being plundered egregiously, but from within this time.
Agreed, they should march against all genocidal bastards not just the genocidal IDF bastards

They say in the video that the UAE is spreading into Africa because they realise their own resources won't last forever. I think we are aware of the policy of them 'spreading their wings' in business and sports.
Backing groups like the RSF though who appear to be committing genocide on non Arabs so they can grab some of their gold and other resources is a story as old as the hills.
I think we know the US and now the UAE only get involved if there is money to be made. As do most countries including our own. As resources decline in this world the fight for them can only get worse.
