Could be a rag with the way he mentioned his team pressure the ref if they percieve him as weak.

When he said about people from where he grew up knowing he had been bollocked off a ref, who is also a police man..... Rio came from a shit area didn't he? A shit-weak link I know, but he was the first name who popped into my mind.
When i think of Scott Parker I see a privileged upbringing, all based on that perfect haired ad he did for Mc D's in the early 90's. Again, a piss-weak link I know! ;-)

The website that that guy's set up is brilliant though! The amount of effort that's gone into such a triviality is astounding, I'm thinking it's for a uni project or something.

I actually posted that it could be a composite under 'Someone Else?' but as with most things like this you can never be sure speculating with only incomplete information.

some of the columns in the Guardian are so well written - yet some people have credited Sir Joseph as being a possible contender. It would be interesting to know who is behind it; nice angle from the newspaper concerned. Marina Hyde isn't too bad either

Not 'in the know' unfortunately, just my opinion based on all articles. Plus, on that dedicated 'Columbo' website, the only footballer who's articulate enough to write some of the articles is Danny Murphy. Konchesky can't string two sentences together, and I don't think it's Parker.

let me ask you this - going off of just the title 'The Secret Footballer' how do you know it couldn't be two or even more footballers calling into a journalist every week with their stories and experiences, out of which a composite column is created?
