The Sheridan Suite.

Business is business and makes the world go round, Sheridan suite should have stood their ground and hosted the event. Sick of the bullying pro Palestinian groups.

I'm sympathetic to the people in Palestine but I don't know enough to start bullying tactics, I'll leave that to the professional activists out there.

Same sort of thing at Kings College when the former Navy & Shin Bet head, Ami Ayalon, spoke there. He's pretty much anti-expansionist and very much on the side of peace yet the pro-Palestinians tried to disrupt the meeting. Had they engaged in debate, they might have heard things that gave them some encouragement yet all they're interested in is shouting people down.

One thing Ayalon said (and he's met with most of the leading Palestinians) is that there are more Palestinian activists imprisoned by Hamas than by Israel.

But you won't find the likes of Orla Guerin telling you that. In fact very few media outlets will report the truth of what happens in Gaza. They mainly rely on the Hamas PR machine to feed them the stories that they then report on without bothering to check the facts.

Good. The more people that treat the state of Israel and its mouthpieces and apologists like the international pariah they should be for their ethnic cleansing, and illegal occupation for 48 years and their theft of land through settlements, the better. We might actually get some justice for the Palestinian people then.

Thank you for proving my point. Were you outside the CFA when the Chinese President was there to protest against their illegal occupation and ethnic cleansing of Tibet?

Thought not.

Thought not. His name isn't Goldberg.

I don't know what point you made that you think I've proved.

The point about Tibet/China is entirely irrelevant and is the usual deflection technique you and the other self-confessed Zionists on here use whenever somebody criticises Israel. The OP posted about issues relating to Israel/Palestine. If somebody starts a thread about Tibet/China I will comment about that issue in that thread.

Your point about Goldberg is another tactic heavily employed on here whenever Israel is criticised, which is to attempt to smear the poster as anti-Semitic. Most intelligent people see through this tactic and recognise that criticism of the state of Israel is not criticism of Jews or Judaism.

Spot on. Although cancelling a booking means fuck all when your "friends" can bomb UN schools without even being made to sit on the naughty step.

A Zionist being someone that believes a state of Israel should exist?

I think you'll find that's most people in the world. Certainly all people that aren't antisemites.

The point is that you are free to criticise whoever you want. That's the essence of free speech. But you feel that Jews who support Israel shouldn't have that right yet are vocal in your criticism of Israel. Intimidation of venues that allow Jewish groups to hold meetings is reminiscent of Nazi Germany and I would hope that, whatever ones views on Israel that you would condemn any such action. Yet you laud it.

And the situation in Tibet is entirely analogous. In fact it's probably worse. China invaded in 1950 and has done what Israel has done in the West Bank and moved its own population in while brutally suppressing the locals who don't lie down and toe the line. The Dalai Lama has claimed that over 1m Tibetans have die as a direct result of Chinese occupation. That figure is highly disputed but the lower limit is somewhere around half a million who have died as a result of repression and famine. The locals don't have religious freedom in the same way the Palestinians do. They don't have the freedom to elect their own representatives. The Chinese have also made it quite clear that there is no prospect of Tibet ever having its independence. So citing Tibet is far from deflection and anyone like you, who feels so strongly about Palestine yet describes Tibet as "irrelevant", is just asking to have their real motives questioned.

I would like to see a just solution of the Palestine issue but stopping Jews and others in Manchester, who may not share your views on the subject, from talking about the situation is not the right answer and never will be.
