I had never heard of never mind seen Barry Lyndon (a 1975 Stanley Kubrick film starring Ryan O'Neal) until 2 years ago but it is well worth watching,although I will grant it is a little on the long side.

2001 is stupidly brilliant. I don't know how Kubrick did half the shots. Every scene is a masterpiece!
