The slowest window ever?

City will not buy this window. And I am happy coz it seems if they did, they'd be buying the wrong players, If we are not going to be getting Vertongen (or Hummels) we might as well seat tight with what we've got.

I really don't see much out there that can help us right now.

But if I had my way, I'd look at Vertonghen, Filipe Luis and Isco
If you had your way we'd have a squad of 500
Nope! There are players we got, that I would not have gotten. And i said as much then. SOme have turned out okay, and others haven't but I would have gone a different route. So in the end we would have had about the same number of players.

Playes City have purchased since the Sheikh landed that I was not so high on:
Lescott, Milner, Clichy, Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Nasri, Santa Cruz, Balotelli, Viera, the Brazilian LB, Savic.

Those I was excited to get that we got include
Barry, Bridge, Tevez, Silva, Yaya, Bellamy, Dzeko, Johnson, Given, Aguero, Assulin.

So as you can see, some worked out and others didn't. But I would have picked differently sometimes.

Players I was happy we didn't get in spite of having an interest
Alvez, Eto'o, Sanchez, Terry, Drogba, Torres, Sneidjer, DDR, Cavani, Cerci, Zapata, Samba, ALex, Cahill

And those I was sad we missed out on:
Pastore, Mata, Vertonghen, Luiz, Enrique, Baines, Lavezzi, Ox, Gaitan, Honda

So there are hits and misses on all sides. But I think my squad would still have been better than what we have now. :)

Pretty much with you but with the exception of DDR & Cavani......doesn't make me right or you wrong, differing opinions are what makes the game and the board.....

Agreed! By the way, I think both Cavani and DDR are fantastic players, I just don't think they are City needs. Just like I don't think either is needed by Madrid or Barca. For example, I think Cavani can and will turn Spurs into Worldbeaters. But he wouldn't add much more to us.

DDR on the other hand would send Barry to the bench. Which is fine, seeing as he is probably a better overall player, but how much more does he add, I am not sure. I'd rather a younger player pushing Barry to the bench, than an age mate. Either will lose form in the next 2 years. Hence why I am not so high on him. I mean he is a far superior player to Banega, yet I'd take Banega if I had a choice of who to buy.

I might be wrong but pretty sure that as it stands Gary Cahill is the largest transfer across the whole of Europe this window!

A truly sad indictment....

I think we could benefit from having both but don't *need* Cavani as long as there is faith in Dzeko. However I think De Rossi would improve our team significantly, he is a much better midfielder than both De Jong and Barry with more versatility to his game. Like against the Dippers with those two in midfield we seemed to have no link between defence and attack because of their limits, whereas De Rossi can pick out a pass from deep or move with the ball and release it confidently. De Jong and especially Barry have their qualities and the latter is a vital member of our team most games but for me De Rossi is even better and a midfield three of De Rossi/Yaya/Barry could be incredible. De Rossi for me is like Yaya, a near perfect midfielder, and I also think they could play together with De Rossi sitting deeper like in De Jong's usual position but of course with more to offer when he receives the ball.

Aye, fair shout although I'll bet that one is actually no where near 9mil and will be some shitty staggered payments with bonuses etc.

Never heard of the fucker either so he doesn't count!

;-)

I think we'll have boo booed slightly if we don't add at least one player and lose tevez!
As I don't understand the ffpr how does it differ from spending now to spending in the summer? Does the summer give us extra time in the ruling and figures etc?

FFPR sucks for us and the lower league teams, its like the housing market, the sales form the mansions and domino effect work their way down to the first time buyers..

The football 'housing market' is stagnant.

Just out of my pit watching a bit of "Deadline Day SSN" and the breaking news is Ricardo Vaz Te having a medical at Wet Spam.

Wooooh, it's getting exciting.
