The Smiths & Morrissey thread

Anyone read this? Heard some good reports about it.
You won't be surprised to know I have a copy.
It's a tough read. Some of them quite interesting but some try too hard to link lyrics to some academical philosophy and get lost (and lose the readers interest) in the process.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, same with books or any art form. By the time they have dissected it word by word or brush stroke by brush stroke it's totally squeezed any joy out of it.

I reckon film director David Fincher might be a fan. His latest film The Killer has just the eleven Smiths songs (snippets of) on the soundtrack.
  • "Well I Wonder" by The Smiths
  • "I Know It's Over" by The Smiths
  • "How Soon Is Now?" by The Smiths
  • "Hand In Glove" by The Smiths
  • "Glory Box" by Portishead
  • "Bigmouth Strikes Again" by The Smiths
  • "Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now" by The Smiths
  • "Girlfriend In A Coma" by The Smiths
  • "Shoplifters of the World Unite" by The Smiths
  • "Unhappy Birthday" by The Smiths
  • "This Charming Man" by The Smiths
  • "Chopstick" by Orlando Angelo
  • "Pop Pop" by Avalanche the Architect
  • "Another Level" by Crewsnot
  • "Pray" by Ryden
  • "Stray Beast" by James Saaib
  • "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths

Is the film any good or should I just play these songs instead?
